Title: Name This Movie: Halloween Edition
Post by: addicted2dvd on September 24, 2008, 02:15:23 AM
I thought we could wet our whistles for our Horror Marathon with a little Warm-up game of name this movie... a Halloween edition where only horror movies are allowed! I thought it would be fun to play now.... and possibly through-out the next month.

So what you say... lets start things out with...

You're right

But I'm surprise that you have found this one that fast, since this is a PG-13 Canadian film. This make me think that I will have to buy the sequel one day (I've seen it at the movie theatre and I don't remember too much about it).

edit : Found it and now add to my order for the horror marathon. It looks like I will have a "The Gate" double feature in my list, not too sure that those two will be really scary now

edit #2 : No wonder you know it, just see that you have it in your collection  :slaphead:

uhhh... how about the plot of the movie.. minus character names...

(Character Name) begins her journey to become a physician in her Gross Anatomy class, where she must confront rows of cadavers and her own fear of mortality. When the sheets are drawn back revealing her cadaver, she senses a presence in the lab. Her jaded professor chalks it up to first year "jitters" but her worries increase when a friend is found dead in the basement. She must find out the truth behind her cadaver before its angered spirit can wreak further vengeance on those who dared to disturb the body.

Is this the problem most of you are having? if so I can do something similar to Karsten's Movie Quiz (http://www.dvdcollectorsonline.com/index.php/topic,966.0.html) game for some Halloween fun.

Let me know if you all would prefer something similar to that (where I will supply all the images)... but would be done differently. If you would prefer something like that I can start it on Wednesday Oct. 1st.. and we can play it through the entire month of October... and see who here can get the most points.

What I can do is bring over my Scream Scene game from my old horror movie yahoo group I used to do.

In the Scream Scene game I would post 3 images a week A Monday (easy) Image which was worth 1 point... Wednesday (medium) Image which was worth 2 points... and a Friday (hard) Image which was worth 3 Points. Get all 3 images within a single week and get a bonus 4 points... which gives you a chance at a total of 10 points per week. Just have to remember to PM me the answers and not answer in the thread. Of course everyone was to manage that with Karsten's game... so I have no worries there. :)

Of course this is just playing for points... and bragging rights... but if this game sounds like fun to you... just let me know... and I will set it up starting the 1st.

Looks like we will end up with enough people to play.... But what I think I will do is up the start date to Monday Sept. 29th... since the 1st of October is a Wednesday we wouldn't get a full week in there. So I will just start it a little early.

no but this actor had played a doctor, a police lieutenant and his first big movie was Forbidden Planet. Certainly one of the most successfull canadian actor with a 58 years career at this date.

I will give some other hint later, but find the actor name and you get the movie.

The actor in the first picture looks a lot like James Lorinz the lead actor in Frankenhooker, but this is not this one. But I will take a chance with Street Trash. Never seen it, but for the comment that I've read on it that seems to be a good movie.

Not "Street Trash" and this is definitely not a good movie,  Warwick Davis is in it if that helps any

Not that I have a lot of merit there, since Davis except for the poor Leprechaun series isn't in a lot of horror movies. But the movie is Skinned Deep, never seen but your second picture is the dvd cover.

Certainly a low budget movie, since there are no visible injury for that much blood unless she had taken a blood shower and fallen asleep after it.

I think of Prom night the remake, but honestly I'm 99.99% sure that this is incorrect since this movie is rated PG-13

Forget the last one I think I got it : The Sorority

Low budget, no great special effect and in a school. The only thing that make me doubt is the fact that the image is in focus.

Sorry if I've the wrong movie and I say those things about one of your favourite film

The only movie that I can think of right now. An half-man/half-shark monster look mutant to me.

Hammerhead : Shark Frenzy (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0459392/)

Ahem, I believe technically that should have been "Zombie 2"...

And it appears this thread should be labelled Rated R at this point

Or Zombi 2 or Island of the Flesh-Eaters or Island of the Living Dead or Woodoo or Zombie Flesh Eaters. Those italian movie are so complicated

Oops, actually that was my mistake... :-[ It was called Zombi 2 in Europe because Dawn of the Dead was named Zombie over there. The Amaerican title was indeed Zombie only, as Zombie too would have made people wonder where number 1 was (similar the Mad Max 2 dilemma).

My apologies. Please carry on with the regular programming.

No need to, my answer was not a reproach at all
By the way the name confusion happen with the rest of the serie : Zombie (this one) followed by Zombie 3,4 and 5. No #2 in America and the #5 had absolutly nothing to do with the rest (this is Killing Bird with the Zombie name attach to it for selling it better)1. That's why I say that the italian movie are complicated, when you search for a movie it's hard to say if you have the complete version or no.

1. Zombie 4 have the same thing too, since its real name is After death but at least this one countains a lot of living dead

In my case I've really no idea of what film is it, maybe a little hint in place of another screencap since I'm sure that I've never seen it.

I've not take a too obvious screen capture, but later tonight if no one find the title I will send one with the star on it. Not that she isn't in this one, but there not too much of her to see if we compare with her other movies.

Somehow he looks like Marty to me.

It looks like a Canadian film I could think off (girl has accident and is brought to hospital). On the other hand, the thing in the window could be a Swiss flag and not the ambulance logo...

In the second picture Jimmy shows it looks again more like that Canadian film, in which case the lady would be well-known for her work in Adult films ;D
