Weekend Movie Marathon:
Unwatched DVDs
I decided I needed to work on my unwatched pile this weekend. Not that I will really make that much of a dent in it considering I have up over 1,000 movies in my unwatched pile. Being the reason I need to work on the pile this weekend! Also the reason why I can't list them all here. So below is a list of films I think I would be interested in for this weekend. I definitely won't get to them all this weekend... probably no where near. My goal for this weekend is 6 movies. Though hopefully I will be able to do even more then that.
Some I am Considering:
9
Bad Ass
Battle Royale
Battle Royale 2: Requiem
The Break-up
Clash of the Titans (2010)
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
Feast
Feast II: Sloppy Seconds
Feast III: The Happy Finish
Forbidden Planet
Full of It
Garfield
Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties
The Marine
Nancy Drew
Phantasm 2-4
Resident Evil: Retribution
Terminator Salvation
Thor: Tales of Asgard
I will leave the list at that. Though I may still pick some that isn't on the above list as well. As long as I never watched the DVD it is fair game.
-
You might want to save the Feast trilogy for your October marathon.
9 and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs should be a Brit and her dad movie day - maybe she'll watch them with you.
Clash of the Titans is good but my heart belongs to the original.
-
I have so many unwatched horror in my collection that it wouldn't matter if I saved them for October or not. Though I may.
yeah... sure I will watch some with Brittany this weekend. :)
I really enjoyed the original Clash of the Titans too... but I am curious about the remake.

My Thoughts:
I have enjoyed all the previous Resident Evil movies... so I was feeling pretty confident going into this one. And I wasn't disappointed. I really enjoyed this one for what it is. A leave your brain at the door, fun... action packed film with just enough of a touch of horror to keep me a happy camper. It is well worth the time put in to watch it.

My Thoughts:
This is a movie I never even heard of before a friend gave it to me. But the trailer looked like a lot of fun so was looking forward to seeing it. And even then it still took me 4 months to finally pop it into the player. Actually two players... the first player I tried didn't like this disc much... but it played perfectly in Brittany's player. Turned out the film isn't bad. Though there is nothing special about it either. Just an average film in my opinion.

I decided to watch this one with my daughter today. It is the first time I seen it... but she has seen it before. After watching I will say that I enjoyed it. Would say it is above average. Though I have seen better animated films lately. But this one is definitely worth the time put in to watch it. It has it moments where it really draws in my attention... but then again there was also times where I got easily distracted from the film as well.

Next you should check out (from the list) is 'The Marine' ;)
-
I am planning on that one. Looked good by the trailer. But I am taking a small break from movies. Will probably get back to it either this evening or tomorrow. Watching a few episodes of HawthoRNe right now. :P
-
Battle Royale
You should give this one a try Pete, I know you don't like subtitles but it really worth the effort.
-
Thanks... been going back and forth on those films because of the subtitles.

Film, not films. While you will feel compelled to watch the second one, I doubt you'll find anyone recommending it to you  (I have watched it more than once :bag:)

My Thoughts:
I just watched the DVD out of the DVD/BD Combo Pack. Unfortunately for some reason all the extras are on the BD disc alone... nothing at all on the DVD. I found the movie itself to be simply amazing. Even more so considering it is based on a true story. I was drawn in from the very beginning... and it kept my complete attention till the very end. A real feel good movie. One I couldn't recommend high enough. An excellent story that is wonderfully done. I just finished this film... and I already feel like I could watch it again. If that isn't a sign of an excellent film... I don't know what is.

I watched Dolphin Tale on my laptop this morning because... well... I was just to lazy to deal with getting up and putting it into the player when it was right there next to me and my laptop. :bag:
Anyway... because of this I went ahead and did a bunch of Vidcaps for DVD Profiler's gallery.... and thought I would share with anyone that wanted them.

Thanks for the review. Its not often i see you give a perfect 5 on a movie. So maby i should put that one on my list aswell.
And i agree with the Battle Royal. Great movie (wich was recommanded to me by Sam btw)
-
Yeah, it isn't often a film deserves a full 5 star rating in my eyes. But I found this one to be simply amazing. And a true story as well. After watching the film I even went to the website to see Winter (the dolphin) on their webcam. (seewinter.com)

Cool :) And (for me) there is something about movies based on a true story. It just catches me.(If thats even a word?) (Allready put it on my pricewatch list)
Thanks.

Great. Hope you get it for a good price and that you enjoy it as much as I did!

My Thoughts:
The original Clash of the Titans from 1981 has always been an old favorite of mine. When I first heard they were remaking it... once I got passed the initial thought of Why? I hoped they would do it well. And to me doing a remake well means walking a fine line of changing and updating enough to make a remake exciting.... while at the same time keeping the main storyline so that you can see just enough similarities to know the story they are remaking. In my opinion they did a fine job on this... amping up the action helped in this. While I think I may still prefer the original... I definitely can see myself rewatching this one as well. Definitely worth the time put in to watch it. I am glad I finally got around to checking this one out.

Just for the fun of it, when you said you had over 1000 in your unwatchedpile! :o (more movies that people own in total!) I just counted my unwatchedpile. I only got 350 in my unwatchedpile so far.
-
I probably have more unwatched horror then you have total unwatched! :P
-
I dont think have over 300 horrormovies total :-[ And that is embarassing really. And horror is one of my favorite genres!
You should post a picture of your collection ;)
-
They aren't all in one place.... over 1000 of them are in binder books... several shelves... in cardboard boxes.... one the top bunk of a set of bunk beds... and so on. :P So they are in such a disarray I hate even the thought of taking pics.
-
Hehe, i gotcha ;) But when you have all of your movies some here and some there. Do you know wich one you havent seen or are in the top of the line etc, to all time?
-
Most the time I have a good idea where they are at.... but sometimes it takes some searching. Which is why I haven't watched Battle Royale yet... it is currently hiding from me. :P

This is a on a cheap Echo Bridge DVD I got at a grocery store recently called Fantasy Adventure: 4 Films Collector's Set. 4 movies on 1 single side DVD for only $2.99. So going into it I wasn't expecting much of anything quality wise. Of course no extras at all... not even a scene select menu. When I picked this one up I couldn't remember for sure if I seen any of the films before. Turns out in this case as I was watching it I remember I have seen it before. But it has been many years! The movie itself is pretty good... not what I would call a great movie... but I definitely enjoyed it. As for the quality... I was honestly expecting worse. But still wasn't great. Reminded me of the old VHS days. So it is watchable... but nothing special. At least it was in Widescreen.

I think I will continue this marathon for this weekend. After all I still have so many unwatched in my collection.

My Thoughts:
This is a film my daughter Brittany gave me out of her collection. She didn't care for it and knew I was always a big fan of The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew every since I was a little kid... much younger then she is now. Of course I knew going into it this is more or less a spoof of Nancy Drew... so went into it not expecting too much... certainly nothing to take as a serious Nancy Drew mystery. But as it turns out it wasn't as bad as I thought going into it. The one downside for me... while the movie takes place in present time... they basically had Nancy Drew stuck in the '50s. They played it off by having Nancy state that she likes old fashion things. Other then that the movie kept my attention... and I found I enjoyed it...well more then I expected to. Though I am the first to admit... this one isn't for everyone.

My Thoughts:
I got this film in a 8 movie set called "Haunted Hollows." This is one of those "found Tape" type horror movies like Blair Witch Project or Paranormal Activity. I always enjoyed this type of film. When I started watching this one I got a little concerned as it starts off so slow and boring I didn't know if I would make it through the entire movie. Plus I found I just didn't care about any of the characters. But then at about the half way point it started having some good scenes... pulling my attention in. There was still several slow scenes as well. I thought I was about to dose off a couple times. But the good scenes helped me make it through the entire film. Over-all not a terribly bad movie... but I have seen several of it's type that were better. No big deal if you miss this one... but if like me, you got this one in a box set of films... you may want to give it a try. Just don't go into it expecting too much.

I liked Nancy Drew overall too. Her acting like she was living in the 50s was a tad odd though. They had her more modern a lot of the books that I read, so they could have done that for the movie. But it was still entertaining.

My Thoughts:
I first saw this movie (I believe) on cable... and I just didn't like it at all at the time. I mean I really had a hatred for this one. But many people had told me to give it another chance. So when a friend offered to give me this DVD I took her up on it. After watching it today I do feel I was hard on it the last time I watched it. While I still don't think this one is a very good movie. It is entertaining... and worth the time put in to watch it. Though for the most part I still don't like a lot of the type of humor they use in this one. While I can see watching it again... it is one of those that I don't watch all that often.

I've seen and heard a lot of good things about this one too. It was entertaining, but I don't think it was as great as so many people think it is...and I'm tired of every movie with female lead characters being compared to it.
The Heat has the same director...which did cause me some concern, but I went to see it yesterday. For me, The Heat is the better movie. There is a little bit of the raunchy stuff, but it isn't as extreme as Bridesmaids - nothing like what happens in the bridal saloon thankfully. That was just disgusting.

I completely agree with you on the bridal saloon bit. Not something I want to watch for sure.
I have high hopes for Heat. Been wanting to see it since I heard Sandra Bullock is in it. Big surprise there... huh? :p

:) I had a feeling you'd want to see it.
I really liked it. I got my review done at Epinions. I'm going to try to write up something to post here about it later tonight.

Look forward to it!

My Thoughts:
Decided to watch this one with my daughter today. We both been wanting to check it out for some time now. This one I enjoyed quite a bit. The graphics on this animated movie was fantastic... and I enjoyed the storyline as well. Definitely one I feel comfortable recommending. Brittany on the other hand wasn't too impressed with this one.
