Title: New version
Post by: DJ Doena on October 27, 2016, 07:17:52 AM
Hey guys,

just a quick info.

I had to upgrade the forum software from a very old version we've been running to the current one. It couldn't be avoided. Unfortunately the themes and other used add-ons are not compatibe.

So over the next few days I'm going to try to restore old features like the portal with our reviews.

If you notice anything missing please let me know.

For example, I know the custom codes are missing which is why there aren't any images in the Purchases topic.

I'll do it this evening (It's 7.45am and I need to get to work now)

If you wish you can browse the themes site http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/ and look if something pleases your eyes

Many thanks for managing this site :clap:. Though I've not been using it for a long time, I find it very easy to use and search functions are simple. I even had fun to look at old posts where people gave their opinion about Invelos' forum... ;D

About themes, I understand people who want to use them, but the default one seems totally OK for me.

In my movies list, I noticed that accented characters and some "-" were replaced by . After modification of the concerned posts, those accented characters are accepted again.

For example (http://www.dvdcollectorsonline.com/index.php/topic,8539.msg173666/topicseen.html#new)
If you take (top of the page) The Wizard of Oz, or The Beauty and the Beast, the text has disappeared. If you quote the post, you see that the text still exists, but with characters replaced by , that makes it invisible.

I understand why you did not see the problem. In my Profile account, prefered language was French. But if I set it to English, everything appears correctly....
Title: Re: New version
Post by: DJ Doena on October 28, 2016, 07:42:22 AM
OK, here's the difference.

In French the page header shows:

In English it shows

Now I just have to find out why

Ok, for some weird reason half of them had all their permissions disabled, but since I'm usually deus ex machina, it showed up for me just fine.

But now it works for the little guy as well. :P

For the old reviews... since they show on the home page... you may want to fix the [ mr] [ /mr] tag. :)

What did that one do?

It was from when people used the smiley face rating system.

was something like...
1 = :yucky:
2 = :(
3 = ???
4 = :)
5 = :thumbup:

though I may have the smileys for each level wrong... been a long time since I used them.

Also...

I tried to insert a new review using...

http://www.dvdcollectorsonline.com/InsertMemberReviews/insert.php

and when I clicked to add the review I got a database error.

Obviously i am not explaining it correctly .. on the home page, the listing of recent posts all look the same whether you have read them or not. Before UNREAD posts on the home page were BOLD. Now they are all the same.

But don't waste any time on it .. thanks

And I'm barely using that one. I always use Unread Posts (http://www.dvdcollectorsonline.com/index.php?action=unread;all;start=0;c=3,4,5,9,10,11,14) link which I have directly in my bookmarks

This topic has received more attention in the past few days than most appear to have received in the past year!

I loved the other theme, but this is a nice change.

You have this pointing to the lists that Jimmy was keeping updated. I don't think they been updated for a very long time now (checked a couple letters last updated 3 years ago). We used to have this pointing to a grid list with all reviews (much like the last 100 when you insert a review). Is it possible to do it that way again?
