Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) grew up hunting such terrifying things. But that's all in the past. Law school beckons him. So do safety and normalcy. That is, until Sam's estranged brother Dean (Jensen Ackles) appears with troubling news: their father, a man who's been hunting evil for 22 years, has disappeared. So now, to find him, the brothers must hunt what their father hunts... and Sam must return to the life he thought he'd left behind.

Supernatural: Season 1
(http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4006/4202876781_9e58d11f0d_o.jpg)
EPISODE 1: PILOT
"Take me home." Along a lonely California highway, a mysterious woman in white lures men to their deaths - a terrifying phenomenon that may be the brothers' first clue to their father's whereabouts.

Guest Stars:
Sarah Shahi as Constance Welch
Adrianne Palicki as Jessica Lee Moore
Samantha Smith as Mary Winchester
Jeffrey Dean Morgan as John Winchester

My Thoughts:
When this series was first announced I couldn't wait for the first episode to air. I really liked how this show introduces the characters. I also liked how this episode uses a well known urban legend to make a story about. Sure that may mean you know where the story is going... and that is true to a point... but they add enough to the story so it isn't predictable. They really did make a good ghost story out of this well known urban legend. I was thrilled the first time I seen this episode... and I enjoyed it just as much now (3rd or 4th time watching it) as I did the first time around.

I didn't not discover SN until sometime this year (when I was heavily disappointed with Smallville) but now I already own 4 seasons on DVD an am watching the fifth when it airs.

I'm also doing a SV re-run currently and have just entered the fourth season. Now when I see that boyish smile on Jensen Ackles's/Jason Teagues's face I can't help it but to see Dean instead of Jason (sepecially when he and Lana were in "Paris").

I know what you mean... when I first ever saw Supernatural all I saw was Jason Teague at first (as I saw him on Smallville first)... made me think Where is Clark when he is needed the first time I saw this.  :P

Supernatural: Season 1
(http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2647/4202974059_c5ce0479dd_o.jpg)
EPISODE 2: WENDIGO
Deep in the Colorado woods, deep in horror. Sam and Dean's search for their father, and for the evil power that killed Jessica, leads to the blood-soaked path of a Wendigo, a cannibal spirit of Native American lore.

Guest Stars:
Callum Keith Rennie as Roy
Gina Holden as Haley Collins
Donnelly Rhodes as Mr. Shaw
Timothy Webber as Ranger Wilkinson

My Thoughts:
Another episode I enjoyed. By this time (actually the end of the first episode) Sam has a reason to continue hunting. I like the whole having to find their father starts the trek all over the country. I found the story of the Windigo to be an interesting one. It is something that while I have heard of before... it is not a legend that I am very familiar with. So that is a plus as I wasn't sure of the direction the episode would take too far in advance. Dean really did seem out of place trekking through the woods. For someone that used to hike the woods all the time like me... I got a few chuckles out of that one.

This is an awesome show.  I watched the first two seasons, then my wife somehow got hooked.  So I went back and watched them again on DVD with her and we've been watching every since.  I've also watched seasons 1-4 here at work with some co-workers and they all loved it too.

I was able to get a couple of my brothers hooked on the series. I normally got my mother hooked on the shows I liked too... but in this case I knew it wasn't her type of thing.

I hear so many mixed things about this series!

Ive never watched it, well... ive seen a clip my friend showed me :S Its not my thing but then CSI isn't my thing and I enjoyed the episode I watched ¬_¬ ughh! I need to break out of my comfort zone.

Never got into it. The pilot was okay, in a pretty oldfashioned way. Or it could be that the ambitious but aweful Heroes pilot I saw at the same time made me think so. I gave up after the second episode.

Supernatural: Season 1
(http://www.pinkraygun.com/wp-content/uploads/Supernatural-Into-the-Deep-End/Rescue3.jpg)
EPISODE 3: DEAD IN THE WATER
Is a series of drownings in a Wisconsin lake the work of a vengeful spirit? A young eyewitness, traumatized into silence by the shock he experienced, may have the power to prophesy the next drowning.

Guest Stars:
Amy Acker as Andrea Barr
Daniel Hugh Kelly as Sheriff Jake Devins
Bruce Dawson as Bill Carlton

My Thoughts:
Another good episode. I liked seeing Amy Acker (Fred on Angel). I especially enjoyed seeing her in the bathtub scene!  :P Of course that bathtub scene was good fir other then the obvious reason. This episode has a good story, characters you care about. And I was actually surprised how good Dean was with the young boy. The kid did a good job of acting.... especially considering he had to do his role with virtually no lines. Had to do everything with body language.

EPISODE 4: PHANTOM TRAVELER

Guest Stars:
Jaime Ray Newman as Amanda Walker
Brian Markinson as Jerry Panowski
Kett Turton as Max Jaffe
Daryl Shuttleworth as Jack Lambert

My Thoughts:
I enjoyed this one quite a bit. I liked that they made Dean vulnerable to demon possession since he was afraid of flying. They got their first clue that their father is still around and ok in this episode. Well worth checking this one out.

Season 1: Disc One:
This completes disc one of the first season set. A very good start to the series. I like how they did the DVDs in this set. Not only do you have the option to play all the episodes... but you also have the option to turn off the recaps before each episode. This way you don't have to constantly see scenes from previous episodes at the beginning of each episode.

Disc 1 Extras:
- Commentaries:
---- Pilot (Eric Kripke, David Nutter & Peter Johnson)
---- Phantom Traveler (Jared Padalecki & Jensen Ackles)
- Deleted Scenes:
---- Pilot
---- Wendigo
---- Phantom Traveler

EPISODE 5: Bloody Mary
"Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary." An incantation uttered during a game of truth or dare unleashes a ghoul who "lives" in mirrors...and kills by gouging out the eyes of her prey.

Guest Stars:
Adrianne Palicki as Jessica Lee Moore
Marnette Patterson as Charlie
William Taylor as Detective
Chelan Simmons as Jill
Kristie Marsden as Donna Shoemaker

My Thoughts:
I always liked it when they did shows on real life legends. And Bloody Mary is a good one. I always found the legend to be fun.... I have a couple movies that is off of it. I think they did a good job with this episode.

Guest Stars:
Amy Grabow as Rebecca
Peter Shinkoda as Alex
Marrett Green as Anchorman
Anita Brown as Lindsay

My Thoughts:
Another good episode. I liked how they worked in how Dean has some form of resentment to Sam... and now Sam knows it. I also liked how the Shape Shifter changed shapes... it was pretty gross.

Guest Stars:
Dan Butler as Reverend Sorenson
Jane McGregor as Lori Sorenson
Brian Skala as Rich
Alfred E. Humphreys as Sheriff

My Thoughts:
Cool... another one from a familiar legend. I thought they did a good job with it. I especially liked how they still didn't beat this spirit even after burning and salting the bones... and the answer to what the forgot.

Guest Stars:
Andrew Airlie as Larry Pike
Carrie Genzel as Lynda Bloome
Tyler Johnston as Matt White
Jim Byrnes as Anthropoloy Professor

My Thoughts:
This is another good episode. If you do not like bugs this one may make you squirm a bit. I know I personally could have went without that damn big spider the kid had! I liked the reason they came up with for the bugs to go nuts the way they did.

EPISODE 9: Home
After 22 years, Sam and Dean return to their childhood home. Now another beautiful young mother lives there - and, if Sam's nightmares are correct, she may be threatened by the same evil that killed Mary Winchester.

Guest Stars:
Jeffrey Dean Morgan as John Winchester
Samantha Smith as Mary Winchester
Kristin Richardson as Jenny
Loretta Devine as Missouri Moseley

My Thoughts:
This one I enjoyed a lot. It's an obvious storyline for the show... having them go back home to where it all began. It is basically a story they had to tell. I really got a kick out of the psychic Missouri Moseley. And we finally meet Sam and Dean's father... even though they didn't know he was in town with them.

My Thoughts:
You can really tell we are getting to the end of the season! Another excellent episode as they start to tie up all the loose ends of the season long arc. This episode we once again see the cute blonde Meg (see pic above)... as well as Dean and Sam's father.

My Rating:

Over-all Thoughts on this Disc:
Once again every episode on this disc is very good. This has to be the most episodes that I gave a   to on a single disc! Unfortunately this disc don't have much when it comes to extras... just a couple deleted scenes.

Disc 4 Extras:
- Deleted Scenes:
---- Nightmare (2 Scenes)

My Thoughts:
A good episode... I enjoyed it. I liked how they did up the old shack in the woods... and like how they did the ghost that was haunting it. I had a bit of mixed feelings for the website ghost hunters. I didn't really care too much for them... but they were alright for a bit of comic relief. But the best comedy in the episode came from Sam and Dean playing practical jokes on each other.

Keith Martin Gordey
Linden Banks

My Thoughts:

Yay! Vampire episode! And you all know how much I love vampires! While I liked how they did the episode... I would have liked to seen more effects on the vampires when they feed and such. But either way... it is an excellent episode. I really liked that they had Sam and Dean's father join in on the hunt for this one. This is also the one that first mentions the infamous colt.

My Rating:

Over-all Thoughts on this Disc:
Once again every episode on this disc is very good. Though not quite as good as the previous disc. I could only give 1 rating of  this time. Unfortunately this disc don't have any extras what so ever... not even a single deleted scenes. If I am remembering correctly the boy's father is in it with them from this point on (2 more episodes)... which is cool... I always like when he shows up on an episode.

Disc 5 Extras:
NONE

This episode not only has a good story on it's own... but it sets up the next episode... the season finale.... wonderfully. Actually it is more like a two part season finale as the next episode starts off right where this one leaves off.

Really started off the season with an excellent episode. It starts off in the exact moment that the first season left off. I really liked what they did with this episode... in the hospital. I also liked how they portrayed the Reaper as you see in the above picture. Even though I know why... I don't care too much for what they did at the very end of the episode. But it doesn't take away from the excellence of the episode.

My Rating:

Wow! I forgot about this thread for the last 3 years! Well now that I am working on getting all the seasons upgraded to Blu-ray, it is a good time to bring it back to life. I am starting over with season 1... and I don't have season 2 on blu-ray yet (I will soon!... Danae Cassandra keeping her eyes open for me!)... but once I get to the point where I left off (Season 2 Ep. 5)... I will revive this thread and review all the way up to at lease season 8! (what I have in my collection now).

This episode shows that such an ability can be bad or it can be good depending on the person that has it.

And did I mention guest star Linda Blair? :P Seriously though... I loved every second of it. And it even got a good laugh out of me with the nod to The Exorcist that it gave... end of the episode and Dean told Sam he was hungry and that he wanted a bowl of Pea Soup. :P
