2019 Horror/Halloween Marathon
This year I decided to attempt a 2 month marathon for the first time ever. I certainly have enough horror in my collection to do so. Here is hoping I can get lots watched in the next 2 months!

Plot:
When a group of teenagers inadvertently kill his only son, Ed Harley (Lance Henriksen, Aliens) seeks the powers of a backwoods witch to bring the child back to life. But instead, she invokes "the pumpkinhead" – a monstrously clawed demon which, once reborn, answers only to Ed's bloodlust. But as the creature wreaks it's slow, unspeakable tortures on the teens, Ed confronts a horrifying secret about his connection to the beast – and realizes that he must find a way to stop its deadly mission before he becomes one with the creature forever. Also starring Jeff East (Deadly Blessing), Joel Hoffman (Slumber Party Massacre II) and Kerry Remsen (A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge), this "atmospheric, moralistic tale" (TV Guide) delivers demonic horror at its blood-drenched best.

My Thoughts:

This is the first time seeing this film on blu-ray as I recently upgraded. I have a special place in my heart for horror from the 80's. As that is when I really discovered my love of horror and was watching non-stop. I am a fan of Lance Henriksen and he is good in this film though I wouldn't say it is a favorite role. Even to this day I like the look of Pumpkinhead. Time has not harmed it a bit in my opinion. I enjoyed this one... a good way to waste an hour and a half. The disc itself looks good and has a nice selection of extras.

Plot:
From the director of Gremlins and Piranha comes the ultimate masterpiece of primal terror. Filled with edge-of-your-seat suspense, "genuine thrills [and] amazing special effects" (Us), this riveting werewolf tale sinks its teeth into your deepest fears and never lets go.

Severely shaken after a near-fatal encounter with a serial killer, TV newscaster Karen White (Dee Wallace, E.T.) takes some much-needed time off. Hoping to conquer her inner demons, she heads for "the Colony," a secluded retreat where her new neighbors are just a tad too eager to make her feel at home. Also, there seems to be a bizarre link between her would-be attacker and this supposedly safe haven. And when, after nights of being tormented by savage shrieks and unearthly cries, Karen ventures into the forest to find answers, she makes a terrifying discovery. Now she must fight not only for her life...but for her very soul!

Extras:

My Thoughts:

This is another one that I enjoy quite a bit. Released the same year as An American Werewolf in London... but doesn't rank quite as high for me. Don't get me wrong It is still an entertaining movie that I enjoyed a lot. But time wasn't as good to this one as it was to An American Werewolf in London. While watching it I felt like I was watching a nearly 40 year old movie. That wasn't the case on the other one. I did enjoy Dee Wallace in this movie. She drew me right in. And I especially enjoyed how they ended the movie. This one also had good werewolf transformation effects.

Adapted to the screen by suspense master Stephen King from his "Cycle of the Werewolf" novelette, this exhilarating thriller features astounding special effects by three-time Oscar® winner Carlo Rambaldi ("E.T.," "Alien," "King Kong").

Extras:

My Thoughts:

I have loved it since I first saw it when I was just a teen. I absolutely love the supped up wheel chair... The Silver Bullet! I really enjoyed the scene when he first got it... finding out just how fast it went. I believe Stephen King's take on the werewolf legend is just right on the spot. And I liked who the werewolf turned out to be. While it is not what I would call a gory movie... there is a scene or two that shows it's fair share of blood. There was nothing about this movie that was not just plain enjoyable. It is definitely one of my favorite werewolf movies. If by chance you never seen this film it is one I highly recommend!

But when Sultan Mehmed II (Dominic Cooper, Captain America: The First Avenger) demands 1,000 of Wallachia's boys – including Vlad's own son – become child soldiers in his army, Vlad must enter into a Faustian bargain to save his family and his people. He gains the strength of 100 men, the speed of a falling star, and the power to crush his enemies. In exchange, he's inflicted with an insatiable thirst for human blood that could force him into a life of darkness and destroy all that he holds dear.

Extras:

My Thoughts:

I thought it was cool to see an origin film for Dracula. And it has a lot of good action. Though I personally would have liked a little more horror. I'm not really familiar with the cast for this one ...but they did a fine job. I found it to be entertaining but it left em wanting more.

Fifty lesser-known horror flicks hailed by critics and genre fans as "absolute must-sees" are given the spotlight with fun, engaging commentary from journalists, directors, actors and critics in a countdown like no other. Stalkers, monsters, slashers, evil dolls, terrorized babysitters, holiday maniacs, mannequins, eerie motels, even giant rats... they're ALL featured in "The 50 Best Horror Movies You've Never Seen!"

My Thoughts:
A decent but nothing special documentary. As I figured I seen most of the films mentioned but there was some I didn't  and reminded me of some I need to watch again. Which really was the purpose of watching this one anyway. But over all... really just an average documentary.

This is, of course, the one that started it all. Definitely a classic when it comes to horror. I feel it is a good movie... definitely worth watching... but I have seen better. My Thoughts:

The second movie in the series is a good one. This one Jason doesn't have his infamous hockey mask yet. Instead it is a burlap sack... which I kinda liked. My Thoughts:

This is the movie that Jason gets his hockey mask that everyone knows him by. While I did still enjoy this movie... I didn't care for it as much as some of the others. I just found that I didn't really care about most the characters this time around. Shelly maybe an exception there at least he was meant to be a little weird.

Extras:

My Thoughts:

This is another good installment. I liked the story... I liked the characters. Some decent kills in this one though not as good as some of the others. And then there was the one main twist . Is it possible to like something but at the sametime not be thrilled with it? That is the way I felt here. But over all a fun film.

My Thoughts:

I so like the telekentic girl in this one. Another strong sequel with a good cast and story. They did a good job with her doctor because I so hated him and couldn't wait for Jason to get him. Once again it is definitely worth the time put in to watch it.

My Thoughts:

While a decent film I felt this is a step down from the first two parts. I did like the cast and the story was ok... though I did feel my attention drifting away from the movie. I really think it would have been better if they didn't show where the curse came from and all that.

Plot:
From Stephen King, the master of horror on page and screen, comes a new tale of relentless terror. Of a modern-day vampire who flies by night, and lands too close to home ... for comfort.

For Richard Dees (Miguel Ferrer) facts are always stranger than fiction. Every headline is a dead-line. Serial Killers, UFO abductions, tales of molestation, mayhem and murder. To some the tales are unbelievable -- but his faithful readers believe. And now there's a new story. The Night Flier. What is it that flies by night in a dark-winged Cessna, lands at secluded airports and brutally murders local residents? Dees begins to follow the unknown killer in a Cessna of his own, uncovering clues that reveal a pilot more terrifying than he could ever have imagined. A creature so untamed by human nature, that their final confrontation will leave no body unbloodied.

Extras:

My Thoughts:

While not the best vampire film I ever seen it is one I enjoyed a lot, And I am a big vampire fan so I seen many. I really liked the way they made Dwight Renfield (the vampire) look... as well as the effect the vampire's blood had when he effected Richard Dees with it. I also really liked the use of Black and White in that scene. It really enhanced the spookiness of the scene. This is a film I would definitely recommend if you never seen it.

Finally, our wayfarer kitty rescues a schoolgirl (Drew Barrymore) from a vile, doll-sized troll.

Extras:

My Thoughts:

This is one of the first Anthology movies I ever seen... and one of my favorites. In my opinion a real horror classic! I loved how the cat in the beginning of the movie is shown running past other Stephen King greats... like.. seeing the cat getting scared by Cujo coming out from behind a fence and almost getting run over by Christine. At one point they also show a couple of the characters watching The Dead Zone on TV. This Anthology had 3 stories to it... and in this case I really enjoyed all 3 of them. This is the first time watching it on blu-ray... I wish it had more extras! I definitely recommend this one.

My Thoughts:

I can't compare this to the book... but this is definitely not the best Stephen King film I have seen. I mean I did enjoy it... but in my eyes it didn't live up to other King adaptations. Worth the time out in to watch it but Don't expect too much.

My Thoughts:

This one while entertaining ... I have seen better of it's type. While I never heard of anyone in the cast I thought they did a fine job. The story line did a fair job at keeping my attention... though my mind did wander here and there. A decent way of wasting an hour and a half... but I wouldn't go seeking it out.
