Title: The Movies From Within My Lifetime
Post by: addicted2dvd on March 22, 2011, 11:15:46 PM
The Movies From Within My Lifetime
First I want to thank our good friend Roger for this idea. As soon as I heard this was a marathon he once attempted I knew I had to give it a go myself.

In this thread I will review 1 movie from every year since I was born. That would be 1969 to present. As of right now I have at least a movie to cover every year except for 2011. Which hopefully I will have covered by the time I get there. For most years I have plenty choices. I won't say what movie I will watch for each year until the time comes. As my mood changes too much from one day to the next.

I am expecting this to be a long running thread... this isn't something I expect to zoom through. But I hope to keep plugging at it till the finish line at year 2011.... before the end of the year 2011.

Wish me Luck!

Looking at my collection I could back to as far as 1938 to have a gapless marathon. From 1931 on my only gaps are 1932 and 1937. Prior to 1931 I only have two movies. One from 1922 and one from 1925.

Would you need to go that far back Tom? You would start with the year your were born. also can anyone recommend a decent movie for 2011 at hopefully a rather cheap price at this point?

I know, but your marathon got me curious which production years are missing in my collection.

Besides direct-to-DVD movies I guess it is too early in the year to have already proper 2011 movies released on DVD. Especially ones for a cheap price. I don't know of any.

I will have to look into some Direct to DVD releases... Who knows... may be something good out there. :)

That sound fun ;D
I think I could join you on this one (even if it will be hard to find something good for the last years) that will give me an excuse to stop being lazy and write some reviews

Do you plan to start it this weekend or this week?

So I've to activate myself to create my thread and choose something to watch tonight
Fine, I'll continue to listen the talking about our coming election and choose a 1970 (I'm younger than you :P) film to watch tonight.

I was considering Easy Rider Hal... as I do want to see it... but I was in the mood for a horror. Though now I am a 3rd of the way through... I wish I picked something else.  :bag: :P

Title: Blood of Dracula's Castle
Year: 1969
Director: Al Adamson
Rating: NR
Length: 84 Min.
Video: Widescreen
Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo
Subtitles: N/A

Stars:
John Carradine
Paula Raymond
Alexander D'Arcy
Robert Dix
Gene O'Shane
Barbara Bishop

Plot:
A chilling, blood-curdling tale about a young couple that inherits an old castle but finds it already inhabited by a crusty butler, an obsessed killer and a couple of vampires, who kidnap and sacrifice young girls in order to live on and on....

Extras:
Scene Access

My Thoughts:
This movie is in the boxset Gorehouse Greats Collection that I bought a year or so ago. Granted I got the set very cheap... but the quality of this video is more then lacking. There was actually green, blue, red and white  vertical lines off and on through-out the entire movie! I sure hope that the other 11 movies in this set looks better then this one.

I got to say this movie didn't impress me all that much. First of all this is a vampire movie (plus some). And what do we get from the vampires? Sitting around the castle talking and drinking their blood from glasses. This movie looks to me like something that Mystery Science Theater 3000 would use for one of their shows. It would probably be more entertaining then the actual movie! Even with that said... there is some scenes here that peaked my interest... unfortunately when that was the case... they just couldn't keep up with it. Watching this movie from (as I said) the Gorehouse Greats Collection... I have to ask... where is the gore?  Hopefully the other movies in this set won't be so disappointing.

My Rating:

My choices:
Titles in Italic are from my Unwatched Pile
- Beneath the Planet of the Apes
- Black Brigade
- Blood Mania

- The Dunwich Horror
- An Evening with Edgar Allen Poe

M*A*S*H would be my first pick.

From your unwatched, I'd go with Love Story, but it is unlikely that you will like it.  :tease:

Whatever I pick... it won't be tonight But I was actually thinking about Black Brigade... it is a war movie... a TV Movie that has Richard Pryor (I would think in a serious role) and Billy Dee Williams in it. Has anyone here seen it? Worth a look?

I would consider M*A*S*H... but it hasn't been that long since I watched it. So not sure I could get in the mood for that one again so soon.

Al Adamson isn't for anyone, personally I like him but this one isn't his best one. The print used for this transfer was the last surviving one and a lot of works was put to restore it. Sure it doesn't look very good, but at first it was completly unwatchable...

You should have watch Nighmare in Wax who is a lot better...

Terror is the best movie in this set.
Satan's Slave, Stanley, Nightmare in Wax and Terrified are good too.
Trip with the Teacher is great but they used an inferior print.
The rest is so-so (The Devil's Hand is boring, but Neil Hamilton from Batman is in this)

Whatever I pick... it won't be tonight
Just don't pick Blood Mania you won't like it

Thanks Jimmy... Will keep that in mind.

BTW Jimmy... do you have any problem with the Gorehouse Greats Collection playing in your DVD Rom? They play fine in my standalone DVD Player... but refuse to play in my DVD Rom... just curious.

I might be motivated to try this...though I'll have to see if I have all the years covered.  I'm thinking I would.  Then I'd have to find the time to watch them all.
But I may join this..

I've been thinking the same thing. I like the concept ... but lately I've rarely been in the mood for movies, so it would probably take me a while to do..
Title: Re: The Movies From Within My Lifetime

As far as 2011 movies, it's probably too early.  There aren't any available yet (I would think) that have actually first played in theaters this year.  Wait until you get to this year, watching your other movies first, and maybe by then there will be some available.

I decided to restart my marathon of this concept at another site Pete and I both post at.  So since others are using this concept, I guess I will do my own as well...

Same for me, but I really expect that Angle mort (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1466568/) will be available on dvd when the time will come. I was almost tempted to go see it in a theatre - the film premiere was even in my city -  but I decided to wait the dvd release (evidently the fact I panic when too many people are around me helped the decision).

Sebastien have you seen it?

Nice idea for a marathon. I think I might join as well, maybe even write short reviews for what I watch. I only have two more years to cover than Pete. I think Pete's idea to finish only until end of 2011 is a good one and allows everyonre to be able to finish without trouble

Should we makew one of those collected threads where everyone posts the list of what they watch...? That could help to see how others are doing and what they are watching.

Title: Re: The Movies From Within My Lifetime

It's because you don't watch TQS or V as it's call now. The trailer for the movie was shown 100 times a day, the fact that Karine Vanasse is the girlfriend of the station owner sure help

But the trailer grew up on me, the movie almost feel like a good version of Wolf Creek mixed with Duel. The facts it isn't a comedy and no humorist "act" in this also help...
Title: Re: The Movies From Within My Lifetime
Post by: RossRoy on March 23, 2011, 02:46:14 PM
Well, if it has Karine Vanasse in it, I will eventually see it, that's 100% sure.  :drooling:

As for not watching V, well you can also put TVA, RC and TQ in the lot ... the channels I "watch" are RDS and Discovery, and that's for 3 specific shows: Hockey, Dirty Jobs, Mythbusters. Also, I watch them all from my PC, so I skip all ads. So basically, chances of me being aware of a new movie from Quebec? Very slim.

My Thoughts:
I will admit... I was a little hesitant choosing this one right now as it isn't my normal fair that I enjoy. But more then one person wanted me to review this movie.... so thought I would give it a go. I found I really have mixed feelings about this one. The story is a good one for the most part... even though they had to make things go a little quickly to fit everything in. But that is OK... I can handle that. The main problem I had with this one is that all the characters are just unlikable. I couldn't relate to any of them. I main guy in this one I found to be stubborn to the extreme. Really pig-headed. And the main girl I found to be awful snobbish for someone coming from such a poor background.... the way she acted... the way she talked... pretty much everything. The did improve on her... but to me it was no more then too little.... too late. And I really didn't like the supporting characters any more then the main characters. But despite all that it has a good story... and I did find myself being drawn in. Especially towards the end... which without going into too much detail hit a little too close to home for me.

My Thoughts:
I actually have 2 copies of this movie on DVD. One in a double feature DVD release along with the movie Embryo. The other copy is in a box set I bought a while ago called Horror Classics: 100 Movie Pack.  I originally grabbed the double feature DVD simply because it was easier to find. But when I saw the quality of that disc I put it back and took a chance the big boxset would have better quality. And it did indeed.

The movie itself left a bit to be desired. The story is averagely entertaining at best. The acting in most parts could use some serious help. Some scenes were entertaining enough for me to keep watching... but I am actually kind of surprised I made it through the entire movie. Over all... I can't recommend it.

My Thoughts:
This is the first time I ever seen this Hitchcock classic. And I must say... I loved every minute of it! The story kept me glued to my seat from start to finish. I found that the movie has a really good pace to it. While it does of course have slower scenes... it never slows down to the point that even the slightest bit of boredom sets in.  I think the entire cast... main stars and supporting cast alike... did a great job. I did find this movie to be a more graphic movie then any other Hitchcock movie I have seen in the past. So it does show a change in the times that occurred by the early '70s. This movie not only made it into my top favorite Hitchcock movies... but top favorite movies period.

Awesome review on Frenzy, Pete!  it followed several difficult productions for Hitchcock in America, and this really felt like him cutting loose and ramping up the fun of being really nasty! Consider also that it was filmed in the market where his father worked and this is getting back to his roots in more ways than one.

My Thoughts:
Not even 15 minutes into this movie and I was already feeling bored. Not a good sign but I decided to stick with it since it was so early. I was a bit surprised to see a movie made in 1973 to be black and white. Not that I mind... just wasn't expecting it. On the other hand I was kinda expecting a bad movie... but this one really bored me. No matter how hard I tried I just couldn't get into it. Every time they had a decent scene... it lost it's momentum as fast as it came. Another stinker out of the Horror Classics: 100 Movie Pack.

My Thoughts:
This morning I really felt like a horror movie I never seen before. while looking over the list I the title of this one grabbed me... so I looked into it a little to see if I was in the mood for it. That is when I found out it is an alternate title for The Blind Dead 3. I know this series has a cult following with a lot of horror fans. While I was a little concerned about starting with the 3rd in the series... my curiosity got the best of me so I thought I would test the series out with this one. I wouldn't say I was hugely impressed... but I did enjoy it for what it is. It was definitely enough to keep my interest. It also kept my curiosity about the films before it... as it is normal for the earlier movies to be the better ones. But over all... I found this one to be a fairly average movie. Entertaining enough to waste an hour and a half with... but not something that you should expect too much from.

This is another movie that is in the Horror Classics: 100 Movie Pack. The audio and video on this movie was better then I was expecting on this movie because of the fact that it is in one of those cheap boxsets. But there is one thing I didn't care about here... and I have seen this on most the movies I watched in this set already. Why does Mill Creek (company putting out these sets) feel the need to place their logo in the bottom right corner of the video? Sure it is only on there about 30 seconds each time off and on a couple times through the movies. While I can deal with it... it is still a little aggravating.

Trip with the Teacher is great but they used an inferior print.

Despite what you said about the print... I think I will probably give this one a go next.

Don't judge the serie by this one, since this is the weakest one of it. If you got the chance to watch the first two don't hesit to do so. Those two are really effective and the Dead Templars are one of the scariest thing I have seen in an horror movie.

Be warned that it isn't an horror film, Personally I think it's a great movie but I'm not sure if it's your genre of film.

AS for Trip with the Teacher... yeah reading the plot I am pretty sure I know what kind of movie it is. They are usually hit and miss with me. But I am hoping (not expecting.. no expectations here) this one will be good.

My Thoughts:
This is another movie that is in the Gorehouse Greats Collection. This time though... I enjoyed the movie. It alone was at least worth the cheap price I paid for the DVD set. Though I did find it to be pretty predictable. I pretty much new from the start who was going to be the hero of the story. I think Zalman King did a really good job as a psycho. He just had that crazy look about him. The last movie I watched in this set (Blood of Dracula's Castle) the quality of the video was terrible. While there was obvious problems with the video here... far from the best it could look... it was definitely an improvement over the other one.

You're right about Zalman King he gave quite a good acting performance in this (he is also good in Galaxy of Terror but it's a small role). Don't forget to check Terror from this set when you'll reach 1978, I'm sure you will love this one

My vote would totally be The Man Who Fell to Earth - aside from the obvious reason, it's one of my very favorite films.  But even I'll say it's not the film for everybody.  I think it's fabulous, but I have a friend I'd never try to show it to.  I do hope you like it whenever you do get around to watching it, tho, even if it isn't this time.  :)

As an ex-Nordiques fan I'm happy to see that real hockey will be back at Québec, but not as much when I've to pay for a guy like Peladeau. Of course that would be funny if Power Corporation or Bell Telecom got the team and decide to build their arena

Title: The Man Who Fell to Earth: The Criterion Collection
Year: 1976
Director: Nicolas Roeg
Rating: NR
Length: 139 Min.
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.35:1
Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo, Commentary: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo
Subtitles: English

Stars:
David Bowie
Rip Torn
Candy Clark
Buck Henry
Bernie Casey
Jackson D. Kane

Plot:
The Man Who Fell to Earth is a daring exploration of science fiction as an art form. The story of an alien on an elaborate rescue mission provides the launching pad for Nicolas Roeg's visual tour de force, a formally adventurous examination of alienation in contemporary life. Rock legend David Bowie completely embodies the title role, while Candy Clark, Buck Henry, and Rip Torn turn in pitch-perfect supporting performances. The film's hallucinatory vision was obscured in the American theatrical release, which deleted nearly twenty minutes of crucial scenes and details. The Criterion Collection is proud to present Roeg's full, uncut version, in this exclusive new director-approved high-definition widescreen transfer.

Extras:
Scene Access
Audio Commentary
Feature Trailers
Featurettes
Gallery
28-page booklet, Walter Tevis' novel, Audio interviews

My Thoughts:
Wow... ok what to say about this one. You ever watch a movie... that after it was over you really wasn't sure what it was you just watched? Well that is the basic feeling I got from this one. A very strange movie for sure. But yet with that said... I was oddly entranced by it. I have no idea how or why.  It was like certain scenes had me completely confused and scratching my head. But other scenes had me mesmerized to the point that I couldn't look away. Maybe with another viewing I will understand the movie better. Because of this... this is one I don't feel comfortable recommending to others at this time. But over all... I enjoyed it more then I didn't. It is just beyond me on how to explain it all.

I'm glad you found stuff to like in The Man Who Fell to Earth.  And I definitely agree it's a film that demands a second viewing.  If I ever see a copy of Performance float through the store I'm going to send you that too.  It's another of the films Roeg directed, and much like Man, it's layered and can be confusing, but I love it nonetheless.

Of course, the big film in that list from 77 is Star Wars, which despite being in the unwatched pile ... you have seen it before, right?  Cause if not, watch it.

Isn't performance the one with Mick Jagger? I haven't seen it and don't actually know much mor than the title, so let me ask if it contains a lot of music?

If you send a film to Pete, he will watch it. But, he doen't like music, at all! I think you can say he even dislike it... Just want to make sure you're not sending him stuff he dislikes just by the nature if te genre...

Yes, it is definitely the one with Mick Jagger.  I wouldn't say that it has a lot of music, however.  There is only one song that came out from the film, "Memo from Turner," otherwise there is just some atmospheric stuff like you see in every movie.  It's not a musical, or anything remotely close.

So from that angle it's fine then...

I don't have enough Roeg films myself, I think. I used to enjoy them whenever I found them on TV, but I think the Man Who Fell To Earth is the only DVD I have. Or wait, Walkabout is his also... (that DVD is an early criterion release, still using a laserdisc master it seems, I should upgrade to the Blu-ray).

My Thoughts:
I never been much for the whole bodybuilding competition thing. But I am a fan of Arnold  Schwarzenegger movies... and I never missed Lou Ferrigno in The Incredible Hulk. So it was still entertaining to see these two in this When I was asked to review this one I was told it "The film intends to be a documentary, but feels more like a preview to today's reality TV shows." And after watching it I have to agree with this statement. While I enjoyed watching this for the first time... I just don't know how much re-watch value this one has. I think the only reason I enjoyed this one at all is because it has Schwarzenegger and Ferrigno in it. If it wasn't for the fact of having 2 people I have enjoyed watching for years... I would have no interest in this subject matter what so ever. And that can only take you but so far.

My Thoughts:
This is a movie that is in the oddly named boxset Gorehouse Greats Collection. I say oddly named because I have watched a few movies in this set now... and I am yet to see what I would call gore. Maybe it is me... I mean I realize these movies are from the '60s and '70s... so maybe this tiny bit of blood I have seen from this set so far was considered gore at that time. But when a set that came out in 2009 is called Gorehouse Greats Collection... do you not expect to see some actual gore? I think the collection of movies in this set is fine... some good some not so good... even some terrible movies in this set. I can accept that. But with such a title to the boxset... these are not the movies I would expect to see when I buy it. And I think most people would expect the same.  Matter of fact I can see people enjoy this set for some classic horror... that would refuse to buy the set because they expect them to be gory.

OK... off my soapbox about the set itself... and on to this movie. I will say this one definitely has more blood in it then the ones I watched from this set previously. But it is still not to the point that I would call it a gory movie. I don't know... maybe for the time it is about as gory as they got. But as for the over-all movie... I enjoyed it quite a bit. The story kept my attention well. While more of a supernatural movie... watching this one you can see the step towards the slasher films that are so well known from the '80s. This movie alone makes this purchase worthwhile. The quality of the release is also much better then the previous movies I watched in this set. This is a movie I wouldn't mind upgrading to a single movie release... with a few extras. Though I did find the acting in some scenes a bit off... it really wasn't enough to distract me from the movie. Anyway... I am glad I watched this movie today. It actually put me in the mood for some more horror. Especially all the fun horror movies that I remember watching as a teen from the '80s!

I just recently got Phantasm II in a boxset I purchased. And I just can't remember if I ever seen part 2 before or not. So I think I will probably watch Phantasm for this year... to kinda remind me of the movie in preparation to watch part 2 when it comes up. I haven't watched the first one in so long that it is barely in my memory. Though in one way this disappoints me. After watching 10 movies for this challenge so far... this will be the first movie I watch that I have actually seen before.

Looks like you enjoyed Terror as much as I did ;D
I was frighten that you didn't because of the buildup I did, not that my opinion are usually wrong but maybe I could have set your expections too high. It's the reason I didn't mention it again when I saw your 1978 list.

When you will get the chance try to watch Satan's Slave from the same director (the film is also in the set), it isn't as good but it's enjoyable too. Of course it doesn't fit on this marathon anymore since it was made in 76...

I think I will probably watch Phantasm for this year...
Just rewatched it recently and you can't go wrong choosing it, I love this one

I am glad I watched this one again. I forgot how much I enjoyed it. Angus Scrimm did a good job being the Tall Man. I found him to be pretty creepy. But another that I found to be on the creepy side here was the psychic woman and her granddaughter that Mike went to go see early on in the movie. The way they worked off each other I felt was very cool. And of course I liked the signature of the Phantasm movies... the flying ball. I really enjoyed every minute of re-watching this movie.

"I thought the original Superman was terrific entertainment," Roger Ebert wrote, "and so I was a little startled to discover that I liked Superman II even more." Three fugitive super-powered Kryptonian do-badders (Terence Stamp, Sarah Douglas and Jack O'Halloran) plan to enslave the Earth – just when Superman decides to show a more romantic side to Lois Lane (Margot Kidder). The timing is off for the son of Jor-El, but it's ideal for a special-effects fan's dream come true as Metropolis comes under siege. Gene Hackman (as Lex Luthor) also returns from the first film and with a top supporting cast, witty Richard Lester direction and visuals that astound and delight, this comic book-come-to-life has become an enduring all-family wow!

My Thoughts:
Another one I really enjoyed. Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder do a good job reprising their roles. I also liked the 3 Kryptonian criminals. I thought it was a great idea to make Superman face someone (or a small group as it is) as strong as he is. Even though I understand why they had to do it for the storyline... I never cared much for when Superman gave up his powers to be with Lois. The movie was almost boring in those scenes. But of course it really picked up afterward... and I really enjoyed the fight between Superman and the Kryptonian criminals. Though I do have mixed feelings on some of the new superpowers seen only in this movie... like Superman throwing the huge S logo... the white beams from their fingers... and the disappearing and reappearing in multiple places type things. Part of me thought it was pretty cool that they decided to do more... but another part of me felt it seemed a bit lame. Over-all it is a great movie that I enjoyed watching again.

Funhouse is a good choice Pete. Everybody know already it was shown the first time I did go to a theatre at 12 years old, so you could even watch it with Brittany since it's a "kid" movie (not in a negative way) and I'm sure she would enjoy it too.

I actually asked Britt if she would watch it with me. And she completely refuses because of the clown on the cover!  She is so terrified of clowns it's ridiculous!

I know the film happen at an amusement park, but I can't remember if the clown part is that important since I haven't seen it since I was 12 years old (wich was some times ago for me ).

If there is not much of the clown in it then she may watch it. But she won't watch it with me till I can tell her for sure.  I was in the living room a few days ago... holding her hand and asking her to watch an episode of Supernatural with me. I should have let go of her hand before telling her it was about an evil clown spirit... she got all upset and nearly twisted my fingers off!

Thanks Tom... I been going back and forth on whether or not to get it for some time... since I didn't know how much it differed from what I have to make it worth the purchase. But a couple other people told me the same thing here recently. So there is a very good chance of it being in my next order.

Well... don't look like it will be in my next order. I went to Amazon when I posted the above. It was $8.99... so I put it in my cart for when I can order next. I got up this morning and it jumped from $8.99 to $19.99!  :o

Movies can go up without a moment's notice.  One Blu-ray disc I pre-ordered about a week ago was about $26 at the time...now it's priced at $32.  Since I did place my order when it was cheaper, I'll get it at that price.

Not relevent to your case Pete, but this is why I pre-order the large majority of my movie. With Amazon I'm sure to get the best price between the day of my order and the day of shipping, also after the pre-order period the dvd price jump higher so my price is lock.

Did you check Marketplace? With an old title like this the price is usually better by a lot

Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo
Subtitles: English

Stars:
Elizabeth Berridge
Shawn Carson
Jeanne Austin
Jack McDermott
Cooper Huckabee
Largo Woodruff

Plot:
It seemed to be a carnival funhouse just like any other: mysterious, eerie, scary, but all in good fun. Yet it wasn't just any funhouse. In this one there was murder. And the horror became real.

The story concerns four teenagers who visit a local carnival for a night of innocent amusement. They soon discover, however, that there is nothing innocent or amusing there at all. Instead, they find absolute terror when the four are trapped inside the maze of the funhouse. One by one, each victim is taken by a monster who tauntingly stalks them.

Extras:
None

My Thoughts:
I just got this movie the other day in the Cult Horror Classics: 4 Movie Marathon DVD set. This is the first time I ever seen this movie. Which in of itself is a surprise... because as a teen I lived on the '80s horror. I enjoyed this one. I have seen better... but it did a pretty good job of entertaining. I enjoyed the story... but I wish they would have did a little better job on designing the deformed look of the killer. I am not quite sure why they chose an evil looking clown for the cover image. There really wasn't much of any clown scenes. So my daughter (who is very afraid of clowns) has no reason to worry about this one.

This is a movie I haven't seen in many years. The last time I saw it I was still a teen. I remembered enjoying it at the time... but I forgot how funny I found this movie. Despite the changes in times... what with making such a big deal about him being a black man and all... I found I still enjoyed every minute of it. This one I watched with my daughter... and we both laughed so hard at this movie that we nearly had tears come to our eyes. I even had to pause it once to let her run to the bathroom so she would pee herself laughing so hard. Which of course got me laughing even more. Anyway like I said... it was a lot of fun re-watching this movie after so long. Unfortunately the DVD leaves a lot to be desired... as I have the re-release of the Pan & Scan version only.  And only extras are some bonus trailers for other movies. But still well worth watching!

Here is what sounds like fun to me right now...

- Beverly Hills Cop
- Ghostbusters
- The Hotel New Hampshire (Never seen... but trailer looks like it could either be very good or God awful!)
- Night of the Comet
- Supergirl

So I narrowed it down a bit... but still just not sure.

I decided on this movie when I noticed in Profiler that I haven't watched it in 8 years! I should have never let so much time go by watching this one. I forgot just how fun this movie is. I is a great mixture of comedy and adventure. I loved every minute of watching this one again. This is one of those few cases where I couldn't imagine them doing any better on it then what they did. At no point in this one was I bored even in the least. All the actors were great. The kids were a lot of fun to watch. This is definitely one that I would highly recommend.

Since there's only 2 DVDs you haven't seen, this shouldn't be too hard to choose 1.  :tease:

If Manhunter is the one about Hannibal Lecter the chose is easy - you must watch this one.

It is the one... It was given to me within the last few packages friends have sent. A friend of mine told me that it isn't as good as the newer version.... which was it? Red Dragon?

Thanks Kathy... Will see if I am in the mood for it when I go to watch my next movie! :)

No sense in watching it if I am not in the mood for that type of movie. I never enjoy them when I force myself to watch something.

 :o  :training:

No. It really is not better. Manhunter is a classy piece of work, Pete, and Brian Cox as Hannibal makes Anthony Hopkins look more like Ham-ibal...

Sorry, that was a very bad joke. I promise not to do it again.  ;) And to set the record straight, Hopkins is awesome in Silence of the Lambs, but if I'd seen Manhunter first, I don't think I'd have been quite so taken with the performance in Lambs.

Another vote for Manhunter being better than Red Dragon. Ridiculous thought that the Ratner could be better than the Mann :headscratch:

Caution, yes, but it isn't nearly as bad as Pete made it appear, especially given his usually enthusiastic ratings for almost everything.  :P

I liked Manhunter.  I rented it several years ago after someone at Epinions suggested I watch it.  It has been a while since I saw it, but I still remember things from it...  I watched Red Dragon once...and I barely remember anything from it.  Manhunter handled the material better I think.
I do like Silence of the Lambs and Hopkins's Lecter creeps me out.  I did like Cox in the role in Manhunter too...it's a different take on the character, but one that works.

I read the books and liked them too...least the first two.  I haven't read Hannibal.

And both those movies were much... much better then The Hotel New Hampshire in my opinion. You all have to remember... this is all a matter of taste. And while I can usually find something to like in most movies.... this one I just found for the most part just boring... with a touch of weird. Like I said... there was some scenes that peaked my interest... but they were few and far between.

Title: Manhunter
Year: 1986
Director: Michael Mann
Rating: R
Length: 122 Min.
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.35:1
Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, English: Dolby Digital: Dolby Surround
Subtitles: N/A

Stars:
William Petersen
Kim Greist
Joan Allen
Brian Cox
Dennis Farina
Stephen Lang

Plot:
FBI Agent Will Graham (William Petersen) has captured the diabolical Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Brian Cox), nearly losing more than just his mind in the process. But when Graham is called out of retirement to hunt the psychopath known as "The Tooth Fairy" (Tom Noonan, in a role Entertainment Weekly calls "one of the freakiest madmen Hollywood has ever given us") he must once again confront the horrors of "Hannibal The Cannibal." If Will Graham enters the mind of the serial killer, can he ever come back?

Joan Allen (THE CONTENDER), Dennis Farina, Kim Greist and Stephen Lang co-star in this shocking thriller directed by Michael Mann and adapted from the novel RED DRAGON by Thomas Harris. But be warned: Fans and critics alike consider MANHUNTER to be far superior to THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS ... as well as one of the most unnerving serial killer movies ever made.

My Thoughts:
This is my first time seeing this movie. I went in with fairly low expectations since a friend of mine said they didn't care too much for this one. But I enjoyed it quite a bit. The story is good... I liked the cast... the movie kept my interest from beginning to end. I have to admit... I didn't even recognize William Petersen (CSI) in this movie. I didn't realize it was him till the movie was basically over.  Anyway... as I said... I definitely enjoyed this one. Glad I finally got around to watching this one.

IMDB = 1986

TCMDB = 1987

And for the record... not talking about the De Nero movie Heat... but the Burt Reynolds movie...

Plot:
Join our old friend, the rotting Creep himself, as he introduces this horror anthology which presents gruesome looks at three tales of horror: a hit-and-run driver in "The Hitchhiker," a wooden Indian on the warpath in "Ol' Chief Wooden Head," and four friends whose vacation on a secluded lake turns into a nightmare in "The Raft."

Creepshow 2 is a deliciously wicked roller coaster ride that will plunge you into the heart of darkness and to the very brink of madness. Just when you thought it was safe to come back to the movies, along comes a fright-fest like Creepshow 2!

My Thoughts:
I decided to watch this one today for a few reasons. Probably most importantly because I felt like I was in the mood for a horror anthology. But also because it has been a while since I seen this one... and it is only an hour and a half... giving me the chance to watch more movies today.

Ol' Chief Wooden Head... This is the first one up. It is pretty good... though it's not my favorite short in this anthology. Matter of fact it is probably my least favorite. But don't think it isn't enjoyable... as I enjoyed all the shorts in this anthology. But one had to fall in last place... and this first one just happened to be the one that fell there.

Next up is The Raft... This one is my second favorite in the anthology. I liked the story... and the idea of girls in bathing suits (and less) is always a bonus. The thing in this one kinda reminds me of The Blob...  but in water. And it has 4 young people trapped on a raft. I liked how they ended this one. Not exactly as expected.

Finally we see The Hitchhiker... and they saved the best for last! I really enjoyed every minute of this one. It has a good atmosphere to it.  And I really liked the whole idea behind the story.

In two of the shorts they have a little homage to The Cisco Kid for some reason. In Ol' Chief Wooden Head one of the characters is watching an episode. and in The Raft 2 of the characters call each other Cisco and Poncho as nicknames. If there was anything in the 3rd short... then I missed it. I also enjoyed the little cartoon wrap-around story on this one.

Tour-de-force performances from an unparalleled comic cast highlight this much-loved hit that Roger Ebert calls "the funniest movie I have seen in a long time!" Four conniving jewel thieves...three yorkshire terriers...two heaving bosoms and one proper British barrister. It all adds up to "a non-stop barrage of...outrageous plot twists and over-the top performances" (L.A. Weekly) when a girl called Wanda (Curtis) tries to deceive her Nietzche-quoting boyfriend (Kline), an animal-loving hitman (Palin) and an embarrassment-prone counselor (Cleese) out of a fortune in jewels in this hilariously funny farce!

My Thoughts:
This is one of my all time favorite horror movies. As with most of the Stephen King movies... Stephen King himself has a cameo in the movie. This time as the preacher at the funeral for Mrs. Dandridge... the woman that helped the creed family in the beginning of the movie. This movie is one of the few movies that can make me cringe when watching it. actually from 2 things in the movie. First when Jud gets the back of his ankle sliced... the next when he is sliced across both cheeks when he is screaming. Both those look extremely painful to me. I couldn't even imagine. Not to mention.. this is a true horror movie for any parent. It even effected me... I had a time watching this movie when my daughter was about Gage's age... especially considering I live on a road that has a high school just down the street... you would not believe the way kids race up and down this road! There for the longest time I wouldn't even let my daughter play in the front yard at all! Anyway... This is just an awesome horror movie! So I definitely highly recommend it if by chance you never seen it before.

My Thoughts:
This is an enjoyable movie... but one I can only watch but so often... because of my own bad case of arachnophobia. Watching this movie (or any involving spiders) makes my skin crawl.  This movie has a couple faces I am familiar with. First we see Julian Sands... who I know from the first couple Warlock movies. Then for comic relief we have John Goodman who was Dan on Roseanne. I wouldn't say this is the best horror movie I ever seen... probably not even the best movie about spiders. But I do enjoy it... I would say it is an above average movie.

Extras:

My Thoughts:
This is the first time I watched this movie in quite a while... a good 7 years according to DVD Profiler.  This is a bit of a weird movie, I grant you... but it is one that I enjoyed quite a bit. The couple in this movie is so over the top it isn't even funny. But it is entertaining to say the least. I really liked the kid that played the 13yr old boy nicknamed Fool that takes on this strange and sadistic couple to save his family... and then going back to save the other kids he met that the couple has trapped in the house. This is not what I would call a gory movie... but some of the things seen here is a bit on the bloody side. Not to mention things a little hard to look at... like "Daddy" in full leather fetish gear trying to hunt down Fool. Over-all it is a movie I enjoyed quite a bit. Glad I finally got around to watching it again.

My Thoughts:
I enjoyed this movie... but not nearly as much as the first one. I would say... that in my opinion this one is just an average horror movie. Worth the time putting into it... but not something I would recommend seeking out. Maybe grab it if you find it in a bargain bin type thing. I did like that this one has Anthony Edwards... who I used to watch all the time on the TV Series ER.

Aided by his band of merry men, Robin of Loxley wrested power from the evil Prince John, brought humiliation upon the despicable Sheriff of Rottingham and found the key to the fair Maid Marian's heart–and her chastity belt. Starring Cary Elwes as the dashing defender of the downtrodden, the hilarious supporting cast includes Tracey Ullman as the sorceress Latrine, Richard Lewis as Prince John, Dom DeLuise as mob boss Don Giovanni and Mel Brooks himself as Rabbi Tuckman.

My Thoughts:
This is the first time I ever seen this movie. But I wasn't concerned a bit going in as I always have enjoyed the Mel Brooks movies I have seen... as I like his silly style of spoofing, And I enjoyed this one as well... but it won't be one of my favorites of his. I think the main problem I had with this one was there were (IMO) too many music scenes. I think it would have been much better without them. I know there is many people out there that don't like this type of movie... and I admit it is not for everyone... so I can't say I straight out recommend it. But if you like the work of Mel Brooks I definitely think you should give it a go.

My Thoughts:
Even though this is a (lets admit it) a stupid idea for a movie. It definitely has it's moments... and is really an entertaining movie. I think that is on the strengths of the stars. Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger make a great team. The way Arnold portrayed a man being feminine and going through the physical and emotional symptoms of pregnancy definitely had a few laughs. Though over-all I wouldn't call this one a favorite. And I personally think that DeVito & Schwarzeneggar were better together in the movie Twins.  But this one is still enjoyable anyway.

You think I am thinking of Hardware...? Oh, wait, there is another film called Death Machine that you reviewed here once, right? That is indeed not the one I mean.

The Death Machine I am thinking of wa directed by Stephen Norrington, who later directed Blade, in 1994.

The Death Machine I am thinking of wa directed by Stephen Norrington, who later directed Blade, in 1994.

This is the Death Machine I have...

(http://www.invelos.com/mpimages/03/031398705338f.jpg) Death Machine
The year is 2003. Chaank Industries, ruthless world leaders in future weapons technology, hires a new chief executive, Hayden Cale. Cale soon uncovers a secret and unethical weapons project the company is involved in and her first order of business is to shut it down. Her troubles begin just as she also tries to fire the company's technological mastermind, Jack Donte - a childlike psychotic with a dark genius for exotic weapons design. Donte retaliates by unleashing into the corporate headquarters the Death Machine, the ultimate killing unit! A weapon that tracks its target by sensing fear and has the power to rip through walls with its hard steel strength and razor teeth. Joined by two unlikely allies, Cale must wage a desperate bloody battle with the terrifying force that has no mercy, no pity and no fear.

And yes... it was directed by Stephen Norrington. I watched the trailer in profiler for it... while it looks like it could be pretty good... not really something I am in the mood for this morning. But I will keep it in mind to watch soon after I complete this movie challenge.

I agree, not a film to be watched in the morning...

My Thoughts:
This is a movie I have never seen before today. But I have been hearing how good it is for years. So been wanting to see it for some time now. I just hope I am not going into this one with too high of expectations. Before putting the movie in I watched the trailer in profiler... which made me want to see the movie even more. Then I glanced at the cast list to see if there was any other big names in it besides Kathy Bates and Jennifer Jason Lee. And I was a bit surprised to see the name Ellen Muth as a Young Selena (Jennifer Jason Lee's Character). For those of you that don't know or remember... Ellen Muth starred in the series Dead Like Me as George Lass... the recently dead girl turned reaper. This is the first thing other then Dead Like Me that I had the chance to see her in.

This movie was quick to grab... and keep my attention. Until the opening credits showed it... I completely forgot that this movie was based on a Stephen King novel. But I shouldn't be surprised as much as I enjoyed it... as I have always enjoyed all of the movies and miniseries I have seen based off his work.  I thought that the entire cast did a wonderful job on this one. I also liked the way they told the story... bringing out what they needed to as they needed to do so. Superbly using flashbacks. And that is coming from someone that don't usually like flashbacks in movies. But when done right they can really help to advance the story. And they were definitely done right here. This turned out to be a great movie to start the day off with. If you are like me... and never gotten the chance to watch this movie... I highly recommend it!

My Thoughts:
This is another movie I haven't seen until now. I wanted to watch this one with my daughter... but she wouldn't have any part of this one for some reason. But I still enjoyed it quite a bit... even if I did have to watch it on my own. The father being an artist/inventor did make him out to be a bit out there... but I guess he had to be where the story had to go. I really liked Anna Paquin in this early role... probably one of her first roles... as the teen age girl that had to fly the geese south for the winter. I really became a fan of hers after seeing her in the Showtime series True Blood. So it is pretty cool seeing her in such an early role. I also liked Dana Delaney as the father's girlfriend. As I said... I really enjoyed this one. A real feel good type movie.

Jennifer Love Hewitt (from TV's Party of Five) and Sarah Michelle Gellar (Scream 2) star with Freddie Prinze, Jr., Ryan Phillippe and Johnny Galecki in this terrifying tale of a body that just won't stay dead.

After an accident on a winding road, four teens make the fatal mistake of dumping their victim's body into the sea. But exactly one year later, the dead man returns from his watery grave, and he's looking for more than an apology. My Thoughts:
This one is not what I would call a favorite... but I do enjoy it now and again. Even though this is little more then an entertaining teen slasher... I do enjoy seeing the familiar faces. Just to name a few we have one of my all-time favorites Jennifer Love Hewitt who I absolutely adored in Ghost Whisperer, then there was Sarah Michelle Gellar who was of course Buffy the Vampire Slayer and then there was Johnny Galecki who was in Roseanne and is currently starring in The Big Bang Theory. But as I was saying... over all not a terrible horror. It is entertaining for what it is... but don't go into this one with too high of expectations.

Well, I see you have Ronin, so that's a must. Not sure if it's your sort of thing though? Did you read the Michael Bay thread? I posted a YouTube video of the final car chase in Ronin.

Title: The Mask of Zorro
Year: 1998
Director: Martin Campbell
Rating: PG-13
Length: 137 Min.
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.35:1

Subtitles: English

Stars:

Plot:
The original Zorro, Don Diego de la Vega, is captured and imprisoned just as Spain concedes California to Santa Anna. 20 years go by and his mortal enemy, Don Rafael Montero, returns to California with a plan to become wealthy at the expense of the peasants.

The story of an aging blade (Anthony Hopkins) passing along his wisdom and his edge to an angry young thief (Antonio Banderas). The young Zorro learns about politics, love, and war, at the feet of his teacher. His quest for personal revenge gives fire to his role as Colonial Mexico's most swashbuckling activist, one who must fight for his country and his woman (the ravishing newcomer Catherine Zeta-Jones, also quite handy with a sword).

My Thoughts:
I decided to watch this movie mainly for the fact that I never seen the sequel... The Legend of Zorro... even though I have owned it for almost a year now (got it for my birthday last year). Since I plan on watching it here soon I wanted to remind myself of this one first. I must say... I forgot how much fun this movie is. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It has plenty of good action/adventure as well as just the right amount of comedy mixed in. The movie is also well paced... you never feel the least bit bored while watching. And the entire cast does a great job. And of course Catherine Zeta-Jones looked just amazing. This is one I definitely feel comfortable recommending.

My Thoughts:
I have been curious about this film for some time now. Seen several good reviews for it. And I basically agree. Though I did have a bit of trouble with the subtitles. I am a rather slow reader so there was some pausing and rewinding going on... even though most the dialog was fairly short and to the point.... some of it was not. I like how they built up this movie... basically going from a drama to a psychotic horror movie. There is some graphic violence in this one. It is a pretty disturbing film. And it is one that will leave you thinking well after the movie is over. If you never seen this one... it is definitely worth checking out.

My Thoughts:
This is the first time I ever seen this one. While I am not a big fan of George Clooney... He wasn't bad in this one.  Though for some reason Julia Roberts didn't do it much for me here. She just seemed a bit stiff in the role. Not exactly relaxed... so not exactly believable. I also felt pretty much the same thing with Brad Pitt. But he is another one I never been a big fan of either. The movie itself I enjoyed quite a bit despite the problem I had with some of the main cast. It has a good, interesting storyline that easily kept my interest. I enjoyed it enough to look forward to seeing the sequel before too long.

I didn't like the sequel either, Jimmy. Shocked you liked the first one! The general consensus is that Ocean's Eleven is fantastic, Ocean's 12 is dreadful and Ocean's 13 is somewhat like the first and remembers how to be good. Well, that's the consensus outside of this forum. I seem to remember Eric liking 12 best and a bunch of weirdos agreeing with him!  :tease:

But without Kathy sending it to me this is probably something I won't have watch, since those films aren't my cup of tea usually.

12 is nowhere near as good as the first one..I enjoyed it overall, but definitely hot as good.  13 is much more like the first and much more entertaining.

My Thoughts:
While I love horror movies... as many already know... I absolutely hate spiders. And let me tell you the giant spiders in this movie all but freak me out. So I spent the most of this movies with the hairs sticking up on the back of my neck. I liked the two leads in this one. David Arquette who I have enjoyed in everything I have seen him in so far... and Kari Wuhrer who I know from when she joined the cast of Sliders in the third season. The movie has a nice mixture of horror and comedy. It has fun... without taking itself too seriously. while at the same time tells a pretty good story.  Worth the time to watch it.

I always look to your Unwatched pile to make my choice. Dreamers is one you should watch but it is not appropriate to watch this one with Brit. I really liked this movie - a lot of the background information is based on true events.

Radio is one of my all time favorites - and would be perfect for the two of you. This is another story based on true events. There are some extras on this disc that showcases the actual people the movie is based on. I know how you like extras and this DVD has some that are quite enjoyable.

Thanks for the suggestions Kathy. :) Since I gave myself till the end of 2011 for this movie challenge... I think I will place this on hold till after next month's Birthday Marathon that I have planned. I may still watch one here and there between now and June... but for the most part it will just be on hold.

Year: 2003
Director: C. B. Harding
Rating: PG-13
Length: 106 Min.
Video: Pan & Scan 1.33:1
Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1
Subtitles: English, French, Spanish

Stars:
Jeff Foxworthy
Bill Engvall
Ron White
Larry The Cable Guy
David Alan Grier
Chris Cagle

Plot:
Hilarious stuff here, friends and neighbors. And the laughs aren't just aimed at folks who think Caddyshack is where ma and pa park the car. 'Cause the little secret behind the #1 comedy concert of the past two years is that its topics - marriage, kids, traveling - are so universal. And so wackily warped when seen through the perspective of standout stand-ups Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, Ron White and Larry the Cable Guy.

This concert movie captures the fellas on stage as well as during off hours. So hunker down and catch each of the comics in a solo bit. Then see them in a kind of 4-man comedy jam. Jeff's "redneck" riffs, Bill's "Here's Your Sign," Ron's bad-boy tales, Larry's bumpkin yarns - they're all here. And all gall-durn funny!

My Thoughts:
Today I felt like a bit of comedy... and I been wanting to watch this movie since I first found out I was getting it. I am a big fan of most of the comedians on this show. The idea of not only seeing their comedy routines but the behind the scenes footage of them on tour just seemed like a lot of fun to me. And let me tell you I loved every bit of the stand-up in this movie. While some of the behind the scenes isn't what I was expecting. I was expecting something more documentary style. But all this was is them doing skits at public places such as a mall or a spa. Some of which was also funny... but for the most part I found it to be more of a let down then enjoyable. But as I was saying... the stand up concert portions was just hilarious... I was laughing so hard at these fools that tears were coming to my eyes. And by the end of the movie my cheeks were hurting.

This is one of the many DVDs that was recently given to me. When I found out I was getting it I watched the trailer online. The trailer looked so good that I was anxiously waiting to get the chance to watch it. Unfortunately I never seen the original one to be able to compare the two. So I can't say how well it holds up to the original. But I can say that this is a good action-packed movie. I enjoyed watching it quite a bit. Of course it isn't exactly what you would call a thought-provoking epic.... but when you are in the mood for a good leave your brain at the door action movie you can definitely do worse. After watching this one I would like to get my hands on the original.

My Thoughts:
An entertaining film... but should have been a lot better. For the most part it was pretty slow. Big Foot looked pretty good for a guy in a hair suit. No CGI here for great effects. They kinda went old school for this one. It really needed more action. But not sorry I have it... and could even see myself watching it again at some point. Just nothing here to blow your socks off.

I felt like watching this movie again and see if it would hold up... even after knowing how it ends. And I must admit... I enjoyed it this time just as much as I did the first time. So I will just repeat here what I said the first time I watched it...

This is a made for TV movie that originally aired on Lifetime. This came up as a recommendation at Amazon when I ordered The Good Witch... and when I watched the TV Spot on Youtube I knew I had to see it as it dealt with the supernatural as Michael (Catherine Bell), the 911 operator got ghostly calls from a little girl. I have been a big fan of Catherine Bell every since I first saw her on the TV series JAG. And I absolutely loved her in this movie. As much as I recently enjoyed her in the movie The Good Witch... I enjoyed her even more in this one. This one had me glued to the TV from the very beginning to the very ending. And without saying much to give it away... I will just say I loved how they ended this one. A thrilling movie from the start.... with a touching ending. I can easily see myself watching this movie again.

My Thoughts:
I grew up watching the TV series The Dukes of Hazzard. The series holds a special place in my heart. When the first movie made from the series came out I was glad I got to watch it before buying it because I felt it was an insult to the series. I especially hated that they didn't have the confederate flag on the roof of the General Lee. Thankfully in this prequel movies they fixed that problem. But the movie still didn't live up to the series. I did enjoy this one better then their first attempt. But more for the General Lee flying around the back woods country then the story itself. I did definitely enjoy April Scott in the role of the always hot Daisy Duke. And I liked watching her start out as a cute but frumpy conservative country bumpkin just out of a religious school and seeing her transform into the very sexy Daisy Duke every fan of the series knows and loves. So this movie does have a certain something about it that I like. But the story should have been a lot better.

My Thoughts:
This DVD has both the Theatrical and Unrated version. So for this review I went with the longer Unrated version. Let me start out with this.... the fact that Kristen Bell is in this movie is a huge plus for me. I have adored her every since I first discovered her when she played the title role on Veronica Mars. And I did enjoy her in this movie. Though she is somewhat the bad guy here she was good in it. Kristen Bell isn't the only familiar face from TV series here. There is also of course Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother) and then there is Mila Kunis (That '70s Show. Who I also thought did a good job. Overall I enjoyed the movie. Though I must admit it didn't end as strongly as I would have liked. Not that it was terrible.... just not as strong as most the movie.

I don't think either modern Dukes film holds any official affiliation with the series, Pete. I liked the film, but saw it as a very different comedy to the TV version. Still, it was rubbish, despite me enjoying it! From what I've read, this prequel does fit the TV series better, but no-one should watch it thinking it is related. Like the film of Starsky and Hutch, actually.

Yeah... I realize Jon. But you know how it is... when you feel close to a show from your childhood it is sometimes hard not to compare them. And unfortunately for me The Dukes of Hazzard is one of those cases.

My Thoughts:
Before you start scratching your head... no... as far as I know this is not available on DVD yet. This is actually from a TV Recording I did myself. But I am hoping to see a DVD release of it before too long so I can junk this recording. After watching Still Small Voices this morning I wanted to watch something more with the always lovely Catherine Bell. And since I watched the first movie of this trilogy not that long ago I thought I would watch the sequels as well. I enjoyed this first sequel just as much as I did the original movie. It has enough sub-plots to keep the story moving and interesting... while limiting it just enough so that there isn't too much going on. I really enjoyed the main storyline of the guy trying to swindle Grey House from Cassie. Once again Catherine Bell was great as Cassie. The more I see her in the bigger fan I become.

My Thoughts:
Once again this has not yet been released officially on DVD. It is one that I made off my own recording. It is the third movie in the series. The latest movie... though I do hear they are making another. While I still enjoyed this one very much. It wasn't quite as good as the previous two. Almost but not quite. It is a good mixture between a wedding and Christmas storyline. After watching this again now... I can't wait for any future movies they decide to bring out.

With weeks to live, he fulfills his life's dreams - especially revealing his true identity to Lois Lane - until Luthor proclaims his ultimate plan to control the world with no alien hero to stop him. Powers fading, Superman engages in a spectacular deadly battle with Luthor that could truly trigger the end of Earth's Greatest Protector. This startling and gripping DC Universe animated original movie stars the voice talents of James Denton, Anthony LaPaglia, Christine Hendricks and Ed Asner.

My Thoughts:
As much as I love animated superhero movies... this is the first time I have seen this one. While I sit here typing this review I am still not completely sure how I feel about the ending. But over all I really enjoyed this movie. One thing I like is this actually works for my birthday marathons as well... as a decent sized part of this movie has Superman giving Lois the same superpowers he has for 24 hours for her birthday. Anyway... as I said... I enjoyed this one... glad I finally got around to watching it. If you are a fan of the animated Superhero movies I think you will enjoy this one as well.

My Rating:
Out of a Possible 5

But you'll have to watch ten more films until then

But seriously, it was Pete himself who started this saying, he wants to finish within 2011. That is what I am targeting at.

Title: Terror

(....)

This is a movie I wouldn't mind upgrading to a single movie release... with a few extras.
I know it's an old post, but it was released previously this year in its original ratio, a better looking print and interesting extras...

All for this for a good price and the film is worthy of a double dip (http://www.amazon.com/Devils-Terror-Katarinas-Nightmare-Theater/dp/B005ZHBDTK/ref=sr_1_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1349827713&sr=1-1&keywords=Terror) (Devil's Men not so much. but what do I know I bought it three times).

Sorry for being off-topic...

Jimmy, I see in your banner you recently bought A Return To Salem's Lot! Is that the MGM DVR or I'd they decide to give it a release? Did you get it for a decent price?

It's the MGM Made on demand DVD-R and the price I paid was higher than what I usually pay for an used copy (almost 20$ with shipping). But Kathy did post after my review that you can get it for a good price at the MGM store.

You will probably see that before you came back to my reply here

I saw that even before my above post ;)

Unfortunately the WB shop doesn't ship abroad :( I am sure Kathy would gladly help, but shipping costs would still level out, I think. Anyway, in the meantime I found that ImportCDs, a place Gunnar I introduced recently as it for $14.71. Maybe it's time to place my first order with them soon...
