Title: TV Show Quiz: Know Your Scenery
Post by: DJ Doena on October 22, 2009, 04:31:59 PM
Hi,

I intend to do a similar quiz to this one (http://www.dvdcollectorsonline.com/index.php/topic,966.0.html), but before I start screen capturing, I wanted to know if enough people are intested playing it.

I like trivia questions.  The problem is that by the time I get to them, they're generally all answered already...

The game is: Know Your Scenery

I have X pictures for you (until I run out of them)

I will post 5 every day (a batch). For every correct show you'll get 2 points. If you guess a complete batch correctly, you'll get another point.

If you guess wrong on a show you get another guess which will earn you 1 point if correct.

If you're the only one that guessed a show correctly you'll get another point.

You can guess any show in any batch until the game's over which will be 3 days after I've posted the last batch  - I will announce in time what the last batch will be.

All guesses via PM

On the day after the last batch I will give an additional hint on every show that has not been guessed correctly by anyone. After the hint you can earn 1 point for guessing correctly.

All shows and Tom was the first to get them all right, so it's not unsolveable.

In the end there will be a full disclosure, yes. Since one can join at any time, there' won't be any solutions before the end besides from what I tell you in the PMs.

Most of the screenshots come from the pilots episodes unless I can't find an convinient one. So, no, just the show's name. ;)

A rough estimate tells me that it's going to be 12-13 batches depending on whether I find a suitable screenshot (which is far easier for location based shows than the others).

When the game is over, there will be a full disclosure with all titles.

Maybe it helps if you not try to see what the picture shows you directly but more what the picture depicts in general. The most important question is: What is it what I am seeing? Then: What are the associations the pictures create? Where would I see something like this? From which era does the image come from? And so on...

If you see a room: Why did DJ show you a room? If you see something else: Why did DJ show you that? There has to be something significant in the picture.

Perhaps I should sell the answers to the quiz for $1 a shot. Although I'm only going to sell the answers for the 48 I got correct.

Hmmm, still a few hours left for me to enter here, so maybe I should win here as well as at Invelos  :tv:

ARGH! :slaphead:

Well I'm tired from the severe bout of kicking myself. DS9? Farscape? And blasted Smallville! I racked my brain for a series in America's mid-west. How many others are there?  :-X How did I miss those, amongst others? Good grief. Several I never had a chance at, but how anyone spotted Fall Guy, I do not know.  :surrender: Third ain't bad considering. Thanks for doing it, Karsten.

Yes that was Colt Seavers going into his house in the hills. And as Achim said, you even see him sitting in his tub in the intro.

For me it was like "Huh, a shot of 'Fall Guy' - let's take one of his outside bathtub, everyone has to recognize this". But then again, FG was a mandatory show to be watched on our school yard.

Buck Rogers
Crusade
Dollhouse
Dragon Ball Z
Firefly
How I Met Your Mother
