Title: The Alphabet Marathon: Blu-ray Edition
Post by: addicted2dvd on January 02, 2016, 04:03:34 PM
The Alphabet Marathon
Blu-ray Edition
I decided to do another alphabet marathon. This time only allowing myself to watch what I have on Blu-ray. Since going  back to work putting a time limit on marathons hasn't worked for me I will not put a time limit on this one. I will just continue it till I finish the marathon no matter how long it takes. And Yes I do have a number and every letter covered on blu-ray though I wish I had some more choices for the letter Q (only 2 Choices) and the letter Y (only 3 Choices).

But maybe by the time I get to those letters I will have some more choices! :P

My Thoughts:

The first thing I notice when I put in this blu-ray disc is that it is the most sparse I ever seen a blu-ray. There isn't even a menu let alone any extras! As soon as you pop in the disc the movie starts... and when I press the menu button I get the message "No Menu Available." Even when the movie was over it didn't have a menu to go to.... it just started the movie over again in a loop. This really surprised me, as I always liked the extras we get with our films. But I sit here telling myself it is the movie that is important. Though still feel a bit down about it.

The film itself...Well it seems this is another movie that I disagree with most reviewers on. When I decided to watch this movie I checked other reviews to see what others were saying about this movie. And I was surprised to see most people saying to skip this one. I personally enjoyed this one quite a bit. Loved Eliza Dushku in it... and found it to be a very interesting movie. Well worth the hour and a half I put into watching it. I also liked that this is based on a real serial killer. I would definitely recommend this one... though with caution after reading so many bad reviews. So I would recommend with that notation.

My Thoughts:

This is a film I enjoyed very much. Sure, just like many movies of this type it is predictable how it is going to end. But when it comes to this type of film... it is not about the ending. My Thoughts:

This is the first time I am watching this sci-fi classic... but it comes highly recommended. And I must say... I did enjoy this one quite a bit. The story line kept my interest with ease and the cast did a great job. I was actually a little surprised to see Frances Bavier in this one as it is probably the only thing I have seen her do other then "The Andy Griffith Show" where she played Aunt Bea. Another film well worth the time to watch. You should check it out if you haven't done so yet.

My Thoughts:

This film I have mixed feelings for. On the one hand the visuals were gorgeous and the dogs were great. But on the other hand most of the cast could have done much better. Don't get me wrong... I found it worth the time put in to watch it. But it isn't one I will feel the need to rewatch often. It just felt like most the cast was phone it in on this one. And that did take a little away from the film.

My Thoughts:

I have been a fan of the Fantastic Four since watching the cartoon series from back in the '60s or '70s when I was a kid. Forgive me for using the obvious word here... but going by my memory of the show... I think they did a Fantastic job bringing the characters to life. I liked everyone in this movie. And that is saying something since this is the first (and so far only) thing I have seen that I actually like Julian McMahon in. But I thought he did a great job here. I think Chris Evans got The Human Torch dead on. Jessica Alba was awesome as Sue Storm (The Invisible Woman). I remember when I first heard they were doing this movie I was concerned how The Thing would look in the movie... but that impressed me as well. I think the origin story is both interesting and fun. And I loved the scene on the bridge where the team first came to be. This is one I would definitely recommend. I enjoyed every minute of it.

My Thoughts:

This is the third time I seen this movie... including watching it in the theater when it first opened. And I must say I loved it just as much on this viewing as I did previously. This is not a film if you are looking for some deep philosophical story-telling. This really is no more then a hilarious (yes I found it extremely funny!), fun, action packed sci-fi. It is a leave your brain at the door good time.... like all comic book films should be, IMHO. Rocket, the smart-ass intelligent weapon wielding raccoon stole the show! I absolutely loved that little guy! He was definitely my favorite character. Other then him I liked Groot... the living plant creature that hung around with Rocket. Though the entire group is great. An excellent fun film that I can't recommend high enough!

My Thoughts:

I found I liked this one more then I was expecting. There is definitely a few good laughs in this film... though in my opinion there is a few spots that go too far. Extras:

My Thoughts:

While I enjoy this one... I was expecting it to be better then it was from the trailer. It is an interesting concept. An idea I haven't seen before. But I feel the film didn't meet it's potential. For one thing I found I really didn't care about the main characters enough. I don't know if this is from the writing or from the fact that I never really cared for Justin Timberlake all that much. Over-all a decent movie. One I can see myself watching again... but not as often as some.

His intentions are good, but changing the past has repercussions that could prove disastrous, as a fractured, alternate universe now exists in place of the familiar one. Stumbling through a twisted reality where even Superman is nowhere to be found. The Flash seeks the trusted wisdom of Batman, only to find a grittier, more violent Dark Knight in his place. The Flash and Batman, with the help of Cyborg, race to restore the original timeline while the alternate world is ravaged by a fierce war between Wonder Woman's Amazons and the Atlanteans led by a battle-hardened Aquaman. With breathtaking action and an all-star cast featuring Kevin Conroy, C. Thomas Howell and Dana Delany, it's a bold, emotional vision that will forever alter the landscape of the DC Universe!

Extras:

My Thoughts:

I enjoyed this one quite a bit. It has an interesting story... and was fun to see the time travel/alternate universe storyline. I especially liked how they changed up the Batman... didn't care much for how they did Superman though. I also wasn't too thrilled with how some of the characters were drawn. But over-all a good film. Well worth the time put in to watch it.

I really enjoyed watching this movie again. It was even better then I remembered it to be. And it was much funnier then I remember too... I laughed out loud many times through-out this movie! It is a very fun and exciting movie! The entire cast did a great job. This is one of my favorite movie memories of the '80s! I am so thrilled I got it to watch again.

My Thoughts:

I enjoyed this one very much. It is at a slower pace then I am normally used to... but that really works with this storyline. I liked the way this movie handled entering a home without an invite. An idea I never seen before... as the way I normally see it the vampire just cannot enter... like there is an invisible force field in the way. So I got to see something I never seen in a vampire movie before this one... and with all the vampire movies I ever seen... that is saying a lot. This is one I definitely recommend... if you never seen it... give it a chance!

My Thoughts:

This is my second time watching this film and I enjoyed it just as much this time as I did the first. Sure there was things I disliked about the film. But there was a lot more good then there was bad. I liked the cast... thought they all did a good job. I didn't care much for the updated Superman costume. I much prefer the classic costume. I also not sure how I feel about how much Lois knows about Clark right from the beginning like this. Or how the fight between Superman and General Zod ends. Though it was kind of nice seeing a Superman movie that don't involve Lex Luthor.

My Thoughts:

This is my first time ever seeing this film... at least in it's entirety. As there was bits and peices that looked familiar to me. I found I really enjoyed this one. It has great performances from several big names. That being said... it is on the long side and a little hard to sit through. There is definitely some here that could have been snipped out to make this a better easier watch. Worth the time put in to watch it... but not something I could see myself watching often.

This is a fun movie... but far from great.. A nice way to waste some time with a few laughs and some pretty women to look at. But other then that this one really don't have that much to offer. Extras:

My Thoughts:

This is one of those "found footage" films. So if you do not like that style of movie then this one is definitely not for you. I personally enjoy that style of movie. It is definitely not the best one of this type that I have seen... but I did enjoy it. I like that they had Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter's sister on Dexter) in this movie. Since first seeing her on Dexter I have become a fan of her's. I liked the base storyline. I liked how they had fun with Jennifer Carpenter's character's interaction with the firemen before things got serious... and I liked how things progressed once they got to the apartment complex. Though I do think some of the scenes were a little too dark which took away from the enjoyment a little.

My Thoughts:

Lets see... what does this film have? Unlikable characters? Check. Predictability? Check. Entertaining? Also check. To be honest with you I don't know why I enjoyed this one at all. But I did like it. Far from a great movie but entertaining and I can see myself watching it again at some point. I mentioned unlikable charcters. Unfortunately I don't mean just the ones you are not supposed to like. But many characters including Ashley Tisdale's... who is the main star of the film. Granted it is supposed to show her growth as a person. But even then while better she wasn't what I would call likable. I mentioned it being predictable. And I mean just that. Way too predictable. I pretty much called the movie in the first 10 minutes. But then this is a Disney family film so I shouldn't be surprised by that. With all that said... why did I find this film entertaining at all? And I just don't know... but after all that I enjoyed it and happy I got around to watching it. Go figure!

This is my second time viewing this one. The first time when we got the disc from Netflix (when first released). Even at that time only found this movie to be average. But found a blu-ray copy very cheap so picked it up. I find that normally most spoofs tend to go too far on the stupid side... what with immature jokes and all. This one does have that as well. But I found it to be better then some I have seen out there. There is some scenes here that I found funny. But it could have been a lot better.

This one I enjoyed quite a bit, It is a little slower paced then I normally like... but it works for this film. It has really great atmosphere... the characters was well done and the storyline easily kept my interest. I feel it is well worht the time put in to watch it.

My Thoughts:

I have always liked the character of Wolverine... so it was a no brainer to watch this one. I enjoyed watching this one very much! It has a lot of the mutants and a lot of action. This movie is just so much fun to watch. That being said there is something I didn't like about it. That being what they did to Deadpool. The character they made here is not Deadpool! And unfortunately that is what people seem to remember the most about this film. Remembering what is bad about this film and forgetting about all the good it has to offer. This one I not only recommend watch. But I recommend that you re-watch it if you seen it before re-watch it to remind yourself it is not all bad.

My Thoughts:

I been pretty lucky with the movies I have watched lately... so knew it had to be coming. I really didn't care for this one much at all. While there was some good scenes and I was able to watch it all the way through... this one just didn't do it for me. The characters was unlikable. The storyline was a bit on the boring side. There just wasn't that much here to keep me interested. Do yourself a favor and don't bother with this one.

My Thoughts:

I really enjoyed this one quite a bit. I literally laughed out loud on more then on occasion. While I liked the entire cast... Woody Harrelson made the movie for me. He just played the character perfectly. This film is definitely worth the time put in to watch it... if you never seen it I highly recommend this one.
