Post by: Piffi on September 30, 2016, 12:47:41 PM
Well, so its allready Friday afternoon where i live. So in just a few hours give or take its October! And that means horror month!
Last year i didnt have the chance to have a horror marathon, but this time i will try again. So for every horror flick i'm watching i will review it here. And in the end of the month i will have a count for how many i've gotten in. I hope i get 20 movies in. Will have to try to get as many in as i can when i'm not working.
Busy months at work lately. Wish me luck! ;)

And with how things ended, i'm looking forward to check out the next one maby tomorrow or something. That was the last one for today. Been a long day. Goodnight!

My Review:
This is actually a really good movie if you ask me. A lost and found kinda movie. Alot like the paranormal movies. If you dont like that, this isnt for you. But for me i really enjoyed this one. A story a bit "out there" wich i like. Great moments trough-out. Fast paced horrorflick really. And this blurayset offers great sound too. And it got some cool extras. All in all, a really good horror flick.

My Review:
Heard alot of great things about this one tho, and since i liked the first one. And the movie was actually very good, a bit different then what i expected it to be. I guess i expected a story similar to Cloverfield, but they made it work with how they did things tho. It keeps a steady pace trough-out. And the last 10minutes of the movie was a bit suprising tho. Makes me wonder if there will be a new movie down the line. Really enjoyed it. Check it out

My Review:
I decided to revisit the hostel series, long time since i've seen them. And the first one in the series is a good horror flick. As we all know Tarantino is the master of gore and blood. More blood the better huh? Got some great scenes trough-out. Some nasty spots trough-out. The acting wasnt any good, but that whats to expect i guess. Looking forward to part 2. This movie is more a "get to know" the characters kinda.

My Review:
So, i've used the weekend good so far. Gotten a few movies in. Going in to this one, i thought i would remember a bit more from it. But i didnt. Alot of scenes and spots i didnt remember. Wich is a good thing ofc. In this one they have kinda switched the roles, and decide to target the girls\women instead of the boys. And the movie has some good nasty moments. Again Tarantino loves his blood and nasty parts. And i know its only a movie and all are actors\actresses. But whats wrong with people really? Some sick ones out there. So i guess all that makes for a good horror movie. And this bluray got alot more extras, some deleted scenes and blooperes. Great.

My Review:
Well, this one i rememerd alot from. We got a similar story as the two other movies. But this time they decide to take it all to Las Vegas. And we have a few good spots here and there in this one too. But not enough IMHO. This movie is more slow paced then the other two. In this they focus more on the gambling and not the horror and gore. This is the worst of the 3. Nothing more than a medium. Could have done much more with it IMHO.

My Review:
So i havent watched this since it first came out, and i really enjoyed then. So i decided to rewatch it before work. And this is a movie i dont mind rewatching. And the movie is actually one of the better horror movies i've watched lately. The story is very simple, but it got alot of great moments trough-out. There are some people that are trapped inside a house, and to get out they need to avoid being killed by all the traps. This movie reminds me of SAW. Lot of similar spots! All in all, a great horror flick. Check it out.

Only heard great things about it, so i decided to get and now i finally had some time to watch it. And i watched the trailer and liked it. But when the movie started it wasnt quite what i expected it to be. The story was a bit different then what i thought it would be, but a good story nonetheless. The movie also had some great moments trough out. And for i think it was cool to see Jessica Chastain in this movie. I'm not used to her playing those kinda roles. But made it work. Now i'm heading to bed. Long day tomorrow aswell. Hopefully i will find some time to watch 1 or 2 movies tomorrow too.

In the unseen version there are some scenes (real nasty ones) that are cut out from the theater one. And the ending is a few minutes longer and a bit different too. Really great horror movie with some great spots trough-out. Really recommanded to watch.

My Review:
And the horror continues. And woah, what a movie that was. Real intense with some real disturbing scenes. They warn us that there are some real sex scenes in this, and thats how the movie starts. And from there we are ut trough a journey of two parents who lose their child. And there are some nasty and disturbing moments trough-out. I really enjoyed it, its a real good horror movie. But a not a horror movie for everyone. Charlotte Gainsbourgh and Willem Dafoe are the only two actors in the movie, and they do a helluva job. They make it all look so much more real. Check the thrailer before you decide to check it out or not. Not a movie for everyone.

Well, that was a movie i had in my unwatched pile aswell. And they said this was a horror. I will say it was 50/50 horror/thriller. Its a movie with a really simple but important message. Cyberbullying. And they actually put us trough some real intense moments. And even tho they didnt have much to work with, they actually made it work real nice. And i actually enjoyed this movie alot more then i thought i would. The story here is, please stop the bullying. Both online and IRL. Please just be nice to eachother!

A horror movie they said.. And even tho there are some moments in the movie, i have to disagree actually. I would say this is more a drama/thriller then a horror movie. But the movie wasnt bad at all. Had some great moments, a cast that plays really well together. A interesting story. But for me i have to say that its a minus that it wasnt a horror (since i watched it for my horror marathon) other than that. I decent flick, with some great extras wich i enjoyed in this blurayset. And Del Toro is known to make great horror movies (wich i really like too) but i have to say again, that i dont think this movie goes under 'horror' if you guys think i'm wrong, please let me know! :)

I remember i watched this back when it first came out and i really enjoyed it then. And havent watched since actually. So i decided to revisit this and the sequal. And i have to admit that the movie was actually better then i remembered it to be. The movie is also based on a true story. A haunted house, nothing new there. But there was some great moments here and there, and the cast with Kyle Gallner in the lead did also a great job. And since its based on a true story (on the blurayset) there is a interview with the real family (the story/movie) is about. And in that interview some really interesting happens. Wich makes it that much better. Really enjoyed it, and its recommanded! Now on to the next one.

My Review:
Well, that was actually alot better then i remember it to be. This "sequel" also based on a true story they said. And me ofc, who really likes the movies based on a true story. This might be based on a true story, but i think they strechted the story a bit, but hey they made it work real nice IMHO. A fairly decent horror follow up with some great scare moments here and there. And this blurayset also delivers some great extras with the 'real and original' family the movie is based on. This is also highly recommanded.

Title: White Dog: The Masters of Cinema Series
Year: 1982
Director: Samuel Fuller
Rating: Rated 15 : Strong Language, Violence and Racist Theme
Length: 90 Min.
Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 1.78:1
Audio: English: PCM: Mono
Subtitles: English

Stars:
Kristy McNichol
Paul Winfield
Burl Ives
Jameson Parker
Lynne Moody
Marshall Thompson

Plot:
One of the most controversial American films of the 1980s, Samuel Fuller's White Dog was originally withheld from release in the USA and has been rarely seen since. This head-on examination of racism remains a riveting and startlingly powerful film experience, with superb performances and a brilliant score by the great Ennio Morricone.

When a young actress (Kristy McNichol) adopts a stray white Alsatian she hit with her car, she soon discovers that the dog has been conditioned to attack any black person on sight. Its only chance lies with Keys (Paul Winfield), an animal trainer focused on breaking the dog's behaviour and finding a way to eradicate its vicious instincts.

An acclaimed and daring late-career highlight for its director, White Dog amply demonstrates Fuller's clear-eyed intelligence, impassioned humanity and filmmaking dynamism. Unavailable in the UK for decades, The Masters of Cinema Series is proud to present its premiere in a new Dual Format Blu-ray™ and DVD edition.

Extras:
Scene Access
48-page booklet with an essay by Jonathan Rosenbaum; the words of Samuel Fuller; the director's "interview" with the dog; and rare archival imagery.

My Review:
Woah, i'm not 100% sure if i've seen this before, but i remember some of the scenes. This movie was recommanded to me by a good friend. And the movie didnt disappoint at all. The movie is actually a sad one, with a sad outcome. About a dog who got some real bad owners and because of that the dog wasnt always the nicest. Some great moments here and there, and some very realistic scenes in some places. All in all, a rather good horror flick with some good extras. If you are afraid of dogs, or thinking about getting one.. Dont watch this one! ;)

The canals of Venice might have been the basis for a red-coated killer in the classic DON’T LOOK NOW but that feels like a mere warm-up for the knife-play of BLOODSTAINED SHADOW, a certified giallo masterpiece!

Directed by Antonio Bido (WATCH ME WHEN I KILL), and starring the sensational Stefania Casini (SUSPIRIA), the story focuses on a slew of slayings that all point towards someone harbouring some particularly horrifying past secrets.

With all of the stylish black-gloved mayhem that the Italians specialise in, BLOODSTAINED SHADOW is a crimson-caked crime-thriller in the tradition of Dario Argento – and its classy charms more than warrant this amazing Blu-ray update!

My Review:
Well, i remember i watched this back when it first came, and i was really exicted to see Sir Anthony Hopkins in a horror movie again! And the movie didnt dissapoint at all. The story might be the oldest in the book, the exorsisme. But they make something extra out of this one. Not just the horror and the exorsisme, they gave the characters some great stories to tell, and ofc Sir Anthony Hopkins did not dissapoint at all, even tho he's getting older. A very underrated movie IHMO. And this bluray give some interesting extras. Highly recommanded. And its based on a true story, wich i really like aswell.

So, it was time for a revisit to this movie. Saw it when it first came out, and i enjoyed it then. And i enjoyed it now aswell. And ofc  (me being a fan of Jennifer Lawrence) its fun to see her in something other then the movies she's known for. The story isnt original, but they made it work. Some good moments here and there, and they have the tension trough-out. All in all a decent horror flick. Check it out.

My Review:
So, back on my horror marathon. Decided to check this norwegian horror movie out again. I bought this when it came out in 03 as a DVD. And now i upgraded it to bluray. And the transfer wasnt the best i've seen tho. But as for the movie, it wasnt as good as i rememeberd it to be. The story is ok at best, and the scare moments are only a few. But for me, there are a few big plus tho. Some great big Norwegian names, who i didnt expect to see.And we even got the Swedish actress Eva Rose who plays Maria Wern in the movie aswell. Nice surprise (for me) who enjoys Swedish crime!  All in all, a ok horror.
