Dick Tracy Meets Gruesome (1947)
A gang of criminals, which includes a piano player and an imposing former convict known as 'Gruesome', has found out about a scientist's secret formula for a gas that temporarily paralyzes anyone who breathes it. When Gruesome accidentally inhales some of the gas and passes out, the police think he is dead and take him to the morgue, where he later revives and escapes. This puzzling incident attracts the interest of Dick Tracy, and when the criminals later use the gas to rob a bank, Tracy realizes that he must devote his entire attention to stopping them.
My Thoughts:
This is one of the many old movies I have that I never seen before. I got this movie in the classic boxset I got for subscribing to Total Movie Magazine several years ago. It was a good movie I enjoyed every minute of it. Though it did seem a bit on the weird side for me to watch a movie that lasted only about an hour. But I imagine there is lots of classic movies with such a short length. I also liked seeing Boris Karloff in a non-horror role. But even here he brings an eerie quality to his role. This is definitely a movie I can see myself watching again.
