Remake of the classic from Fede Alvarez, written by Rodo Sayagues, Diablo Cody and Alvarez. Official synopsis has now been released:
QuoteFive twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

I wonder how this will turn out? This has the ability to be a parady of itself but I hope not.

While it will not be possible to recreate the original, obviously, I think if they play their cards right there is some potential. Problem is though, that stuff that was new or different in the early 80s is pretty much clichee now...

It was already remade as a bad parody in Evil Dead 2, I guess it won't be any better...

Jimmy, you are literally the only person I have ever met that didn't like Evil Dead 2 as a sequel to the first one!  It's a fantastic film, but you already know I like it.

Moving on... only the involvement of Diablo Cody holds any interest for me. It will be awful, I'm quite sure, but it would be interesting to see if the right people wanted to get back to the roots.

My brother don't like it too :P
It isn't a sequel, it's a remake with way too many slapstick jokes. When I watch an horror movie I want to see an horror movie not a Marx Brothers short.

We've had this conversation before!  :P

Actually, Evil Dead 2 is a remake and a sequel. The first act is essentially a retread for newbies.
